The claim stems from Real Raw News, a website that says it publishes \u201chumor, parody, and satire.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The image shows what appears to be a <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">screenshot<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of an article published on Jan. 7 that alleges a batch of COVID-19 nasal swab tests distributed to the U.S. military were tainted with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/groupastrep\/diseases-public\/necrotizing-fasciitis.html#:~:text=Necrotizing%20fasciitis%20(NECK%2Dre%2D,important%20to%20stopping%20this%20infection.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">necrotizing fasciitis<\/a>, an aggressive flesh-eating disease. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The article cites \u201cCaptain Jacob Downing,\u201d an alleged medical doctor and infectious disease expert at <a href=\"https:\/\/walterreed.tricare.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Walter Reed National Military Medical Center<\/a> as the source for the article.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There is, however, no evidence to suggest the claim is true. A Walter Reed spokesperson told Check Your Fact there was no employee by the name of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/search.usa.gov\/search?query=Jacob%20Downing&amp;affiliate=tricare_wrnmc&amp;utf8=%26%23x2713%3B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacob Downing<\/a>\u201d at the medical center. There is also no mention of COVID-19 nasal swab tests being infected with <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">necrotizing fasciitis in press releases from the <a href=\"https:\/\/search.usa.gov\/search?query=nasal%20swabs%20infected&amp;affiliate=defensegov&amp;utf8=%26%23x2713%3B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Defense<\/a> (DOD) or the <a href=\"https:\/\/search.cdc.gov\/search\/index.html?query=nasal%20swabs%20infected&amp;dpage=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a> (CDC). <\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is false,\u201d said a DOD spokesperson in an email to Check Your Fact. <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/07\/22\/fact-check-unused-coronavirus-tests-positive-results-found-tuscaloosa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Viral Post Claims Unused COVID-19 Tests Showing Positive Results Were Found In Tuscaloosa)<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">An internet search reveals the screenshot featured in the Facebook post shows a Jan. 7 article published by <a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/2022\/01\/covid-testing-swabs-tainted-with-deadly-bacteria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Real Raw News<\/a>, a website that openly states on its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">About Us<\/a>\u201d page that it contains \u201csatire, humor, and parody.\u201d The post shared on Facebook notably did not include such a satire Disclaimer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While there is no evidence the U.S. military received COVID-19 nasal swab tests tainted with a dangerous bacteria, the CDC did accidentally contaminate some of the coronavirus tests it manufactured in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/04\/18\/health\/cdc-coronavirus-lab-contamination-testing.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>.
