He faces up to 20 years in prison.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/y8K4ZEugYk\">https:\/\/t.co\/y8K4ZEugYk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael Levenson (@mlevenson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mlevenson\/status\/1482129830900604931?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 14, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSeth Andrew, a former White House advisor, admitted today to devising a scheme to steal from the very same schools he helped create,\u201d said Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdny\/pr\/former-white-house-advisor-pleads-guilty-devising-scheme-steal-218000-charter-schools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to the documents. \u201cAndrew now faces time in federal prison for abusing his position and robbing those he promised to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrew helped to create School Network-1 in 2005, which was \u201ca series of public charter schools\u201d based in New York City, according to the DOJ documents. Andrew left his role at School Network-1 in 2013 after taking a position with the Department of Education (DOE).<\/p>\n<p>After his time in the DOE, Andrew would join the Obama White House in a senior advisor role for the Office of Educational Technology, according to the DOJ. In 2017, once he finished serving in the White House, Andrew severed all of his ties with School Network-1.<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/05\/20\/arne-duncan-school-boycott-gun-legislation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Obama Education Secretary Believes Students Should Stay Out Of School Until Gun Legislation Is Passed)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each of the charter schools in School Network-1 had to maintain an \u201cescrow\u201d account that could only be accessed following the dissolution of the school, according to the DOJ. However, Andrew used his access to close the escrow accounts following his departure from School Network-1 and placed $218,000 into <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/12\/four-indicted-covid-19-embezzlement-ring-wire-bank-fraud-almost-22-million\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fraud<\/a> accounts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/27\/seth-andrew-obama-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew was arrested<\/a> in April 2021 when he was charged with \u201cwire fraud, money laundering, and making false statements to a financial institution in connection with a series of banking transactions he conducted in 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrew faces a maximum sentencing of 20 years in prison for one count of wire fraud, according to the DOJ.
