Thies)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>That \u201cspirit,\u201d he said, is not one that \u201crests in government,\u201d saying that his \u201cmission\u201d is to both restore trust in government and return power to the people of the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Calling the Commonwealth the \u201chome of American democracy,\u201d Youngkin\u2019s message drew from Virginia\u2019s history, invoking Virginian Founding Fathers like Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, James Monroe, and Patrick Henry \u2014 who insisted on the inclusion of the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The new governor touched on policy areas such as coronavirus policy, business, education, and law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>The place to start, he said, was \u201cwhere the future is determined: in the classroom.\u201d Youngkin was met with likely the largest applause of the speech when he vowed to \u201cremove politics from the classroom,\u201d continuing to promise to \u201cteach all of our history, the good and the bad,\u201d and keep schools open.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19504642\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/01\/IMG_5949.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19504642\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/IMG_5949-e1642273537335.jpg\" alt=\"Inauguration of Glenn Youngkin (Breitbart News \/ Breccan F. Thies)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Youngkin turned to business development, lamenting that for too long, Virginia was being skipped over for investment in favor of its neighbors like Maryland, North Carolina, and Tennessee. He vowed to \u201cget all Virginians back to work,\u201d by adding 400,000 new jobs and 10,000 new startups. \u201cStarting today \u2026 Virginia is open for business,\u201d he declared. \u201cWe will compete and we will win.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Saying he is \u201ctroubled by the recent attacks on our police,\u201d the Virginia Republican promised to \u201crestore safety by fully funding law enforcement,\u201d saying he plans to protect qualified immunity and invest in community policing.<\/p>\n<p>Returning to education, the issue that likely catapulted him to victory, Youngkin declared \u201cparents should have a say in what is taught in schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents have a fundamental right to make decisions with regard to their child\u2019s upbringing,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Lt.
