Chris Smith (R-NJ) condemned as a \u201chuman rights abuse\u201d New Jersey\u2019s new abortion expansion law that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/faith\/2022\/01\/11\/new-jersey-gov-phil-murphy-vows-to-sign-bill-expanding-right-to-abortion-until-moment-of-birth\/\">allows<\/a> abortion even up until the moment of birth.<\/p>\n<p>Smith said Friday in a phone interview that Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) is now \u201cthe abortion governor.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Regardless of whether or not the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. What a revelation of priorities that was.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Smith expressed his outrage at the celebratory signing ceremony Murphy conducted Thursday with the CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Alexis McGill Johnson, at his side.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, this is an outrageous piece of legislation,\u201d Smith railed about New Jersey\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.njleg.state.nj.us\/bill-search\/2020\/A6260\">Freedom of Reproductive Choice Act<\/a>. \u201cIt totally dehumanizes unborn children and makes them persona non grata. It will lead to even more abortions going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The congressman continued the \u201cno-limits piece of legislation\u201d will lead to many children \u201cdying a painful death.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">As the Supreme Court continues to threaten Roe V. Wade, more states will have to pass laws to protect access to reproductive health care and defend a woman\u2019s right to choose.<\/p>\n<p>Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovMurphy?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GovMurphy<\/a> signed legislation to do just that. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/t7Lmi46MLz\">https:\/\/t.co\/t7Lmi46MLz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rep. Frank Pallone (@FrankPallone) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FrankPallone\/status\/1481751863271866372?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As the primary sponsor in the House of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation that seeks to ban abortions once an unborn child can experience pain, Smith said, \u201cWe know about the pain and the suffering as that dismemberment abortion \u2026 imposes horrific pain on a baby, on that little girl, that little boy.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Murphy, he said, \u201chas just given the total legal green light to dismember children and chemically poison children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a great number of scientists that are recognizing after prenatal surgeries, that, even at age 15 weeks, they make sure they anesthetize the baby to assist the baby,\u201d he said, noting, however, that abortionists \u201chave absolutely no compassion for the baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAnd Murphy has now put the full weight of our state government, our state law, on the side of the abortionist, so it\u2019s deeply troubling,\u201d Smith continued. \u201cI mean, this is a human rights abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murphy <a href=\"https:\/\/nj.gov\/governor\/news\/news\/562022\/approved\/20220113a.shtml\">said<\/a> as he celebrated the signing of the legislation:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>With&nbsp;Roe v. Wade&nbsp;under attack, today\u2019s historic legislation makes clear that New Jersey\u2019s position in supporting the right to reproductive choice remains protected. Together, with expanding contraception coverage, these two pieces of legislation serve to meaningfully and tangibly increase access to reproductive health care, and ensure&nbsp;that New Jersey residents are now, and will remain, in control of their reproductive choices.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But Smith asserted that while \u201cbirth is an event that happens to all of us, it\u2019s not the beginning of life, and for him to refuse, and those members of the General Assembly and state Senate to refuse to recognize, especially in the era of ultrasound, the humanity of that girl and that little boy before birth, is appalling.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The pro-life lawmaker observed Murphy\u2019s outspoken support of the abortion industry throughout his election campaigns and first days of office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe reversed Chris Christie\u2019s ban on funding Planned Parenthood immediately upon coming into office four years ago, and now to put forward and to sign, because he initiated and pushed it very hard through the legislature, an abortion on demand act that parallels what Gov. Chris Christie\u2019s (R) administration, New Jersey\u2019s Democrat-led legislature&nbsp;appropriated funding for Planned Parenthood, but Christie vetoed it,&nbsp;and redirected that funding to other federally qualified healthcare centers that do not perform abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northjersey.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2017\/08\/29\/murphy-touts-plans-stronger-fairer-state-economy\/615028001\/\">campaigned<\/a>&nbsp;on restoring Planned Parenthood\u2019s funding and received the abortion giant\u2019s endorsement.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood\u2019s Johnson applauded Murphy\u2019s signature on the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday is a historic day for reproductive health in the Garden State,\u201d&nbsp;she said, adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We are grateful for the constant advocacy by the governor, legislative champions, Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey, the Thrive New Jersey Coalition, and more to ensure the state met the moment and secured access to essential health care in the state. Apparently, the governor believes that prioritizing an end to parenthood is an accomplishment, rather than a human rights tragedy, especially for those who could have helped lead the state for years to come.
