Do you think it\u2019s a winning success, what you\u2019ve advocated for government?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you really think it\u2019s appropriate to use your $420,000 salary to attack science that doesn\u2019t agree with you?\u201d Paul <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tomselliott\/status\/1480942065890607117\">asked<\/a> Fauci. The senator called the attempt to paint the declaration\u2019s authors, who graduated from Ivy League institutions, as \u201cfringe\u201d figures \u201cthe epitome of cheap politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNN\u2019s Don Lemon played a portion of the hearings on his show Tuesday night, before accusing Paul of having a case of sour grapes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have advocated that your infallible opinion be dictated by law,\u201d Paul told Fauci during the portion of the testimony played by Lemon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you catch that this time?\u201d Lemon asked his audience. \u201cIs somebody \u2014 is he jealous? Is somebody jealous of Dr. Fauci?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what it sounds like if you, like, read the intonation and the body language, right?\u201d Lemon asserted. But reading body language may not be Lemon\u2019s fort\u00e9. When a man named Dustin Hice allegedly approached Lemon at a Long Island bar in summer 2018, Lemon allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-a-network-rife-with-predators-and-perverts-don-lemon-accuser-rips-cnn-after-cuomo-firing\">rubbed his hands on his genitalia<\/a>, then thrust them under Hice\u2019s nose while asking, \u201cDo you like p**** or d***?\u201d Hice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/witness-claims-he-saw-cnns-don-lemon-sexually-ryan-saavedra\">filed a $1.5 million lawsuit<\/a>, which has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/over-the-bulls-censorship-megyn-kelly-debuts-new-siriusxm-show\">not yet been fully adjudicated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lemon has regularly impugned the motives of his critics, rather than dealing with the substance of their arguments. He has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/curtis-houck\/2022\/01\/13\/again-cnns-lemon-says-those-against-him-are-nazis-us-traitors\">repeatedly<\/a> demeaned those who oppose his political agenda as being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-anchor-everyone-who-voted-for-trump-sided-with-the-klan-nazis-rioters\">aligned with neo-Nazis<\/a> and the Ku Klux Klan.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci questioned Paul\u2019s motives by citing Paul\u2019s fundraising pitches to oust Fauci, the highest-paid employee in the federal government, from his job. Fauci held up a picture emblazoned with the words \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/11\/anthony-fauci-whines-about-rand-pauls-fire-dr-fauci-campaign-during-senate-hearing\/\">Fire Dr. Fauci<\/a>,\u201d a gesture that backfired as it instantly went viral.<\/p>\n<p>The two men have engaged in pitched public battles over the last year. In response to Paul\u2019s questioning, Fauci&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-sen-rand-paul-grills-fauci-over-u-s-funding-for-wuhan-lab-origin-of-virus\">insisted<\/a> last May that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) \u201chas not ever and does not now fund gain of function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request uncovered an NIH grant seemingly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/3-stories-the-media-ignored-this-week\">funding gain of function<\/a> research probing the possibility of increasing the transmissibility of \u201cbat coronavirus\u201d to humans at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. \u201cKnowing it is a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement?\u201d Senator Paul&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/you-do-not-know-what-you-are-talking-about-fauci-lashes-out-at-sen-rand-paul-for-suggesting-he-lied-to-congress\">asked<\/a>&nbsp;Fauci last July.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator Paul, you do not know what you are talking about,\u201d Fauci shot back. \u201cIf anybody is lying here, Senator, it is you.\u201d Lying to Congress is \u201ca felony punishable by five years in jail. We\u2019ve referred it to the Department of Justice,\u201d Paul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-msnbc-interview-fauci-neither-asks-about-damning-covid-19-documents\">told<\/a> Fox News host Sean Hannity last year.<\/p>\n<p>In Tuesday\u2019s hearing, Fauci claimed that Paul\u2019s probing questions had caused threats on Fauci\u2019s life. \u201cIt\u2019s disappointing for you to suggest that people who dare to question you are responsible somehow for violent threats,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fauci-says-sen-rand-paul-kindles-the-crazies\">responded<\/a> Paul.<\/p>\n<p>Other darlings of the Left, including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AOC\/status\/1116848329776934912\">and<\/a> Ilhan Omar (D-MN), regularly deflect allegations by accusing their opponents of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-3-steps-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-takes-to-shut-down-media-criticism\">putting their lives in danger<\/a>. The same strategy has been adopted by MSNBC\/CNN guests <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/so-much-hatred-is-directed-at-us-cable-news-liberals-attack-then-play-the-victim\">like Michael Eric Dyson<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/npr-reporter-says-her-job-requires-a-bulletproof-vest\">reporters<\/a> at National Public Radio, and TV medical experts like Dr. Peter Hotez. Hotez accused Fox News and \u201cmembers of the United States Congress\u201d of leading an \u201cauthoritarian\u201d conspiracy to \u201csay things to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-doctor-fox-news-leads-authoritarian-conspiracy-to-incite-violence-against-scientists\">incite violence against scientists<\/a>.\u201d Hotez alleged, \u201cThis is a systematic attempt by the leadership of Fox News to target not only the science, not only to discredit vaccines, but to put a target on the back of scientists \u2014 prominent U.S. scientists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Members of Congress have a duty to respond to the President\u2019s explicit attack today.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IlhanMN?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@IlhanMN<\/a>\u2019s life is in danger.
