A notice in the upper left-hand corner of the clip claims the alleged interview is from \u201cNewsnight 1999.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think in the future, we\u2019ll be wasting hours and hours of our lives just watching videos of cats and dogs being adorable,\u201d says the man who appears to be Bowie. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/12\/fact-check-jim-carrey-30-day-media-shutdown-solve-worlds-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Jim Carey Say A 30-Day National Media Shutdown Will Solve The World\u2019s Problems?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavid Bowie predicted on[sic] how internet and social media will eventually enslave people\u2026.hmmm,\u201d reads part of the video\u2019s caption.<\/p>\n<p>The man in the footage, however, is not Bowie. Through a keyword search, Check Your Fact discovered the clip actually shows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comedy.co.uk\/people\/michael_spicer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">English comedian<\/a> Michael Spicer, who shared the video on his <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MrMichaelSpicer\/status\/1477937485799899140\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0QAiJ5rJALE&amp;t=1s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> accounts on Jan. 3. The clip appears to be Spicer\u2019s satirical reenactment of an actual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FiK7s_0tGsg&amp;t=396s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a> Bowie gave to journalist Jeremy Paxman for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b006mk25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BBC Newsnight<\/a> in 1999. Some of the clips of Paxman are used in Spicer\u2019s satirical interview. Spicer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VAyh2xPrFvo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">frequently<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=12j2Esnn-eY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posts<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hhqxGh9VBRA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">videos<\/a> of himself playing characters on his YouTube account.<\/p>\n<p>At one point in the real <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FiK7s_0tGsg&amp;t=396s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1999 interview<\/a>, Bowie begins discussing the impact of the internet and says, \u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019ve even seen the tip of the iceberg.
