While they\u2019re no longer a TX Medicaid provider, they still collected millions for their bloody biz. <\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m suing to get that wrongly-syphoned money back for Texans and stand for life. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jcI5rmWAHb\">pic.twitter.com\/jcI5rmWAHb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Attorney General Ken Paxton (@KenPaxtonTX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KenPaxtonTX\/status\/1481703039484444683?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cSpecifically, Planned Parenthood received reimbursement from Texas Medicaid to which it was not entitled,\u201d the lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/executive-management\/Planned%20Parenthood%20Complaint%20in%20Intervention%20(FINAL).pdf\">states<\/a>. \u201cPlanned Parenthood knowingly and improperly avoided its obligation to repay money owed to the Texas Medicaid program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paxton said in a statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is unthinkable that Planned Parenthood would continue to take advantage of funding knowing they were not entitled to keep it. I will not allow them to benefit from this abhorrent conduct after they were caught violating medical standards and lying to law enforcement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As a press statement from Paxton\u2019s office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.einpresswire.com\/article\/560564989\/pax-ton-sues-planned-par-ent-hood-to-dis-gorge-10-mil-lion-in-med-ic-aid-payments\">noted<\/a>, and Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/border\/2016\/12\/20\/texas-gives-final-notice-planned-parenthood-medicaid-funding-will-end\/\">reported<\/a>, the state\u2019s Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General eliminated Planned Parenthood from its Medicaid program in 2016. The move was made in the aftermath of the release of undercover videos from the Center for American Progress that exposed potentially illegal activities involving the harvesting and transfer of the body parts of babies aborted in Planned Parenthood clinics.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Planned Parenthood challenged the elimination of its Medicaid funds in the courts, but ultimately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/11\/24\/court-rules-texas-may-defund-planned-parenthood\/\">lost<\/a> its case when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit overruled a lower court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Big Money Abortion Giant Planned Parenthood says &#8220;we demand more,&#8221; including American taxpayers footing the bill for abortions in House Democrats&#8217; HEROES Act. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/p00UGfaUtG\">https:\/\/t.co\/p00UGfaUtG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1262548877728776193?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 19, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201c[B]y February 1, 2017, Planned Parenthood was not entitled to be reimbursed from Texas Medicaid,\u201d the statement from Paxton\u2019s office explained. \u201cThe lawsuit seeks disgorgement of all program monies paid to Planned Parenthood for services delivered after that date, approximately $10 million \u2013 plus trebling of that amount and additional civil penalties for each day that Planned Parenthood failed to repay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood General Counsel Kumiki Gibson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/texas-republicans-demand-planned-parenthood-return-10-million-in-medicaid-payments\/\">said<\/a> in a statement to Courthouse News that referred to the Texas Heartbeat Act, which bans abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Attorney General Ken Paxton, Governor Greg Abbott, and their allies continue to do everything in their power to undermine the health care of Texans, who have suffered under the most restrictive abortion law in the nation for more than four months now.
