Version: 4.0.47--><p>Early reports said No. 1 tennis player in the world Novak Djokovic had his visa canceled by Australian authorities after receiving a medical exemption because he \u201cfailed to provide appropriate evidence to meet the entry requirements to Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10402223\/Novak-Djokovic-Federal-Circuit-Court-block-Australian-Government-deporting-him.html?ito=social-twitter_mailonline\">report<\/a> from The Daily Mail, however, shows that authorities canceled the unvaccinated athlete\u2019s visa \u201con grounds he could \u2018excite anti-vax sentiment\u2019 at the Australian Open on Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Legal representation for Djokovic argued before court that Immigration Minister Alex Hawke\u2019s reasoning was \u201cpatently irrational.\u201d Judge Anthony Kelly claimed the concern over Djokovic allegedly whipping up anti-vaccine sentiment \u201cwould be \u2018an important foundational aspect of this case.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNovak Djokovic\u2019s lawyers have told a late night court hearing his visa is being cancelled on grounds he could \u2018excite anti-vax sentiment\u2019 at the Australian Open on Monday,\u201d The Daily Mail report said. \u201cThe tennis star\u2019s legal team argued that Immigration Minister Alex Hawke\u2019s reasoning was \u2018patently irrational\u2019 and failed to consider how deporting the World No.1 could have the opposite effect by whipping up more support for the anti-vaccination movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Attorney&nbsp;Nick Wood told the Federal Circuit and Family Court \u201cthat government officials\u2019 fears were unfounded,&nbsp;and that it would be wrong to \u2018remove a man of good standing\u2019 from Australia and \u2018impair\u2019 his career,\u201d the report added.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Kelly pushed back, asserting that \u201cthe issue of anti-vax sentiment would be \u2018an important foundational aspect of this case\u2019 given the wave of deaths and economic impact the Covid pandemic has had on Australia,\u201d according to The Daily Mail.<\/p>\n<p>As highlighted by The Daily Wire\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-unvaccinated-novak-djokovic-facing-deportation-from-australia-after-visa-canceled-a-second-time\">Joe Morgan<\/a>, Djokovic, who has nine Australian Open wins under his belt, was granted a medical exemption to play in the Open without receiving the COVID-19 vaccination by Tennis Australia and the Victorian government, a state-level authority.<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic in December already had the virus, and the exemption was granted on the grounds that he had natural immunity.<\/p>\n<p>Australian authorities, though, canceled Djokovic\u2019s visa one day after the athlete arrived in Australia, ostensibly because he&nbsp;\u201cfailed to provide appropriate evidence to meet the entry requirements to Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There has been much back-and-forth about Djokovic allegedly providing \u201cfalse\u201d information on his forms. Essentially, Djokovic traveled while he was positive for COVID-19 but asymptomatic.<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic has pushed back against the \u201cmisinformation,\u201d saying that his agent had accidentally checked an incorrect box, which was merely \u201chuman error\u201d and not deception.<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic\u2019s father, Srdjan, has since spoken out about his son\u2019s detainment and treatment and called on Queen Elizabeth to \u201cprotect the human rights\u201d of his son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI call on Queen Elizabeth, the leader of the Commonwealth, to intervene and protect the human rights of my son and to stop the political prosecution carried out against him since he came to Australia,\u201d Srdjan said.<\/p>\n<p>The prospects of Djokovic playing the Australian Open look more and more grim, though the tennis player has signaled he won\u2019t stop fighting, likely landing him in another detention center as he fights off the visa cancelation.<\/p>\n<p>But time is running out; the Open begins on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
