The balance \u2014 or \u2018net migration\u2019 \u2014 of those entering the country to live long term over the next ten years, according to the report, will therefore be 2.2 million.<\/p>\n<p>James Robards of the Office for National Statistics said the figures had changed from previous estimates because they\u2019d adjusted their assumptions of future fertility downwards, and priced in changes in mortality expectations.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cGiven a higher number of deaths and fewer births are projected, net international migration is expected to play an increasing role in population growth,\u201d Robards continued.<\/p>\n<p>Border-control advocate group Migration Watch met the figures with dismay, with chairman Alp Mehmet remarking that:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>These projections point to the impact of mass immigration and uncontrolled borders, with more than two million people expected to come from overseas than leave over the next decade.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, about all of population growth over the period is likely to be due to immigration. England is already the most crowded nation in Europe. When is the government going to get serious about controlling immigration in the way that they have so clearly failed to do so far?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2022\/01\/12\/migrants-will-stop-britains-population-falling-next-decade\/\">report<\/a> by&nbsp;<em>The Telegraph&nbsp;<\/em>on the released statistics, the net inward migration is around two-thirds of the number who arrived in the UK after Tony Blair\u2019s Labour government open the UK\u2019s borders to migrants from eastern Europe in the early 2000s.<\/p>\n<p>That British population growth in the coming decade will be fuelled wholly by immigration is not a development that has come out of the blue. As Breitbart London <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2018\/08\/23\/study-finds-82-per-cent-of-uk-population-growth-this-century-down-to-immigration\/\">reported<\/a> in 2018, a study found that 82 per cent of UK population growth this century so far had been down to immigration.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The news comes after it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/21\/uk-facing-baby-shortage-as-fertility-rate-falls\/\">announced<\/a> in 2021 that the UK was facing a baby shortage, with fertility rates having dropped to nearly half those seen during the post-war baby boom.<\/p>\n<p>Other European countries are also struggling with birth rates, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/02\/05\/french-birthrate-talking-point-2022-presidential-election\/\">France\u2019s<\/a> having fallen to its lowest in decades in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>It is now expected that the issue will become a campaign issue for the country\u2019s upcoming presidential election in April.<\/p>\n<p>While population growth in the UK is now to be fuelled by migration inwards, other European countries and politicians have rejected inward migration as a solution to lowering birth rates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI refuse to think of substituting ten million Italians with ten million migrants,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/28\/salvini-rejects-substituting-10-million-italians-with-migrants-backs-family-friendly-policies-instead\/\">said<\/a> Italy\u2019s populist firebrand, Matteo Salvini, who last year claimed he wanted instead to focus on introducing family-friendly policies to bump baby numbers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2019\/01\/31\/polish-mps-approve-maternal-pensions-women-devoted-lives-raising-children\/\">Poland<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2020\/08\/26\/pro-family-hungary-birthrates-up-five-per-cent-so-far-in-2020\/\">Hungary<\/a> meanwhile have already implemented a host of financial incentives to increase the number of children being born in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary\u2019s policies in particular \u2014 which include a system of low cost loans made available to married couples with children \u2014 seem to have paid off, with birth rates rising by five per cent during the first half of 2020.<\/p>\n<p>This is despite rates in other countries being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/02\/01\/us-births-plummet-coronavirus-crisis\/\">suppressed<\/a> by the start of the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<blockquote
