Rodney Davis (R-IL) that would have kicked likely hundreds, and potentially thousands, of foreign nationals off state voter rolls.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The amendment would have been tacked onto the Democrats\u2019 \u201cFreedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act\u201d which seeks to <a href=\"https:\/\/republicans-cha.house.gov\/sites\/republicans.cha.house.gov\/files\/documents\/Summary%20-%20Dems%20NASA%20Voting%20Rights%20Amendment.pdf\">federalize all<\/a> local and state elections with prohibitions on requiring photo identification when voting by mail and weakens current requirements that mandate states routinely clean their voter rolls.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cCommon sense will tell you that combining noncitizens and eligible American voters on the same voter rolls is ripe for abuse,\u201d Davis said on the House floor:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>All of this could be prevented if states were actually maintaining accurate voter rolls<\/strong>, which has been required by federal law for nearly 30 years. Whether intentional or not, we know this is happening, it\u2019s undermining the integrity of our elections. <strong>This amendment would simply ensure those who are noncitizens, who do not have the right to vote in federal elections, are removed from states\u2019 voter rolls<\/strong>. This is especially critical as my friends on the other side of the aisle push for a federal takeover of elections. [Emphasis added]\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>House Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/09\/democrats-block-requiring-states-to-remove-foreign-nationals-from-voter-rolls\/\">last blocked<\/a> the amendment in December 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Blue states have a history of foreign nationals on their voter rolls. In 2020, for instance, Illinois officials admitted that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/01\/21\/illinois-non-citizens-voting-did-not-report\/\">nearly 600<\/a>&nbsp;foreign nationals were on the state\u2019s voter rolls. Similarly, in 2018, California\u2019s DMV admitted that it had&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2018\/10\/08\/california-dmv-registered-1500-non-citizens-to-vote-in-2018\/\">registered<\/a>&nbsp;about 1,500 non-eligible voters, including foreign nationals, over six months.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Democrats in New York City <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/09\/nyc-democrats-give-nearly-1000000-foreign-nationals-the-right-to-vote\/\">approved a plan<\/a> to give voting rights to nearly a million foreign nationals in the city, who only have to prove that they have resided in the U.S. for 30 days. Republicans, Democrats, and naturalized citizens are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/10\/nyc-sued-voting-rights-1m-foreign-nationals\/\">now suing<\/a> the city.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
