The union first explored the possible expulsion of Trump last month, and cited his \u201cantagonism\u201d toward its members and disregard for its values when justifying the decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On the SAG-AFTRA website, in a<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sagaftra.org\/sag-aftra-national-board-passes-resolution-barring-donald-trump-future-re-admission\"><span>post<\/span><\/a> <span>titled \u201cSAG-AFTRA National Board Passes Resolution Barring Donald Trump from Future Re-Admission,\u201d union president Gabrielle Carteris was reported to have said \u201cIt is a resounding statement that threatening or inciting harm against fellow members will not be tolerated.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAn attack against one is an attack against all,\u201d Carteris continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The resolution, which was passed by the SAG-AFTRA National Board during a Zoom meeting, cited \u201cthe same concerns that prompted the initial disciplinary charges \u2014 which were resolved by Trump\u2019s resignation on Thursday \u2014 notably his antagonism of the union\u2019s journalist members and disregard for the values and integrity of the union.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>SAG and AFTRA merged in 2012, and Trump has been a member of both organizations<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2021\/01\/donald-trump-sag-aftra-expulsion-vote-1234675599\/\"><span>since<\/span><\/a> <span>1989. According to the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/08\/screen-actors-guild-american-federation-television-radio-artists-donald-trump-capitol-riot\/\"><span>Daily Caller<\/span><\/a><span>, \u201cThe ban doesn\u2019t affect Trump\u2019s pensions and he will be able to work in SAG-AFTRA\u2019s jurisdiction.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump went viral on Twitter last week when, days before SAG-AFTRA made the decision to prevent Trump from ever rejoining, he resigned from the organization. Who cares!\u201d Trump then cited his movie and television successes, and his impact on \u201ccable news television businesses\u201d who were \u201csaid to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics.\u201d His resignation letter ended with \u201cI no longer wish to be associated with your union,\u201d culminating with \u201cAs such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from SAG-AFTRA. You have done nothing for me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>SAG-AFTRA\u2019s resolution included the accusation that Trump was guilty of inciting the riots which resulted in insurrectionists storming the US Capitol building on January 6 in Washington D.C.
