The Moline-Coal Valley School District and Board of Education have policies and administrative procedures in place which allow for community use of its publicly funded facilities outside the school day.<\/p>\n<p>The district does not discriminate against any groups who wish to rent our facilities, including religious-affiliated groups. Religiously affiliated groups are among those allowed to rent our facilities for a fee.<\/p>\n<p>The district has, in the past, approved these types of groups, one example being the Good News Club, which is an after-school child evangelism fellowship group. Flyers and promotional materials for these types of groups are approved for lobby posting or display only, and not for mass distribution.<\/p>\n<p>Students or parents are then able to pick up the flyer from the lobby, if they so choose, which is aligned to District policy. Please note that the district must provide equal access to all groups and that students need parental permission to attend any after-school event. Our focus remains on student safety and student achievement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Superintendent Rachel Savage also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineschools.org\/apps\/news\/article\/1552392\">shared<\/a> on the district\u2019s website:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>To illegally deny their organization (viewpoint) to pay to rent our publicly funded institution, after school hours, subjects the district to a discrimination lawsuit, which we will not win, likely taking thousands upon thousands of tax-payer dollars away from our teachers, staff, and classrooms.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As Breitbart News reported in March 2017, Judicial Watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2017\/03\/16\/school-satan-club-received-fast-tracked-tax-exempt-status-irs\/\">obtained<\/a> documents that showed the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) fast-tracked tax-exempt status for an \u201cAfter School Satan Club\u201d in Tacoma, Washington, while the federal agency was discovered to be either denying conservative and Christian groups the same status or delaying a response to them for years at a time.<\/p>\n<p>The report noted:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>According to the watchdog group that uncovered the&nbsp;IRS scandal during the Obama administration, the After School Satan Club at Point Defiance Elementary in Tacoma&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/blog\/2017\/03\/irs-gives-school-satan-club-tax-exempt-status-10-days\/\">applied<\/a> for its tax-exempt status designation on October 21, 2014 and received it only 10 days later on October 31, 2014.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Satanic Temple\u2019s (TST) website <a href=\"https:\/\/thesatanictemple.com\/pages\/after-school-satan\">page<\/a> titled \u201cEducatin\u2019 with Satan,\u201d says its club program \u201cis an after school program that promotes self-directed education by supporting the intellectual and creative interests of students.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Satanic Abortions are protected by Religious Liberty Laws<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/srEoiKhJ88\">https:\/\/t.co\/srEoiKhJ88<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Satanic Temple (@satanic_temple_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/satanic_temple_\/status\/1291078333707489281?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 5, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>TST, which largely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2016\/06\/17\/satanic-temple-joins-planned-parenthood-pro-abortion-crusade\/\">operates<\/a> as a pro-abortion rights organization, adds:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The After School Satan Clubs meet at select public schools where Good News Clubs also operate. Trained educators provide activities and learning opportunities, which students are free to engage in, or they may opt to explore other interests that may be aided by available resources. The environment is open and parents are welcome to participate. Children are told, in very personal terms, that they are sinful, wicked, deceitful, and deserving of punishment, death, and an eternity of suffering in hell.\u201d The Good News Clubs strive to train children to evangelize to other children to bring them to their religious thinking.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In December, TST <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/faith\/2021\/12\/20\/satanic-temple-display-features-deity-baphomet-as-babe-in-manger\/\">unveiled<\/a> an installation in the Illinois Capitol rotunda that showcased its \u201cdeity,\u201d Baphomet, a winger goat creature, displayed as a babe swaddled in a manger.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">TST invites you to our Sol Invictus tradition of displaying Baby Baphomet at the Capitol building in Springfield, IL. The Satanic Temple believes that religion can, and should, be divorced from superstition. As such, we do not promote a belief in a personal Satan. To embrace the name Satan is to embrace rational inquiry removed from supernaturalism and archaic tradition-based superstitions. Satanists should actively work to hone critical thinking and exercise reasonable agnosticism in all things.
