Before she was adopted, her soon-to-be parents were told of one-year-old Jessica\u2019s rare condition, and that her legs would have to be amputated.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cWe found a baby girl for your adoption, but there\u2019s some things you need to know,\u201d&nbsp;a woman from the adoption agency is heard telling the parents in the commercial. \u201cShe\u2019s in Siberia and she was born with a rare condition. Her legs will need to be amputated. I know this is difficult to hear, but her life \u2014 it won\u2019t be easy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cIt might not be easy,\u201d&nbsp;Long\u2019s adoptive mother responds, \u201cbut it\u2019ll be amazing. I can\u2019t wait to meet her.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Long is \u201cone of the world\u2019s most decorated swimmers with 23 Paralympic medals, including 13 gold, and 30 world medals consisting of 24 gold,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paralympic.org\/jessica-long\">according<\/a> to Paralympic.org.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s such an emotional spot,\u201d Long <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paralympic.org\/feature\/toyota-s-super-bowl-ad-us-paralympian-jessica-long-draws-tears\">said<\/a> of the ad, according to&nbsp;Paralympic.org. \u201cIt\u2019s so raw. The way Toyota was able to capture all of that, it brings all of these emotions out that I kind of forgot about. I didn\u2019t start out the sport thinking that I was going to win gold medals or to be in a Super Bowl commercial. I started this sport because I truly loved the water. It was a place that I felt really free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LiveAction president and founder Lila Rose applauded Toyota for the ad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Thirteen] months after birth, Jessica Long was adopted by an American family,\u201d Rose posted to Twitter on Monday. \u201cAt 18 months, both of her legs were amputated below the knees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut despite the adversity, she grew up to become a strong, beautiful &amp; accomplished woman\u2014winning 60+ world championship medals in swimming,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">13 months after birth, Jessica Long was adopted by an American family,<\/p>\n<p>At 18 months, both of her legs were amputated below the knees<\/p>\n<p>But despite the adversity, she grew up to become a strong, beautiful &amp; accomplished woman\u2014winning 60+ world championship medals in swimming<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lila Rose (@LilaGraceRose) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/1358870850984763399?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www1.cbn.com\/cbnnews\/us\/2021\/february\/toyota-super-bowl-ad-tells-amazing-adoption-story-of-paralympian-jessica-long-embrace-who-god-made-you-to-be\">According<\/a> to CBN News, Long is a strong Christian who\u2019s affiliated with the advocacy group \u201cFight for the Fatherless,\u201d \u201ca movement led by Christian athletes that aims to encourage orphans and those affected by a disability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was always angry with God,\u201d Long is quoted on the group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/fightforthefatherless.org\/jessica-long\">website<\/a>. \u201cI couldn\u2019t understand how a God could make me without my legs. When I was 8 years old, I kinda accepted him, but it was more out of fear and wanting to just go to heaven. There wasn\u2019t a relationship and I still never felt good enough. Years later when I was out in Colorado springs training, I felt God truly work in my heart. I was raised the right way, but I still had to come to Christ on my own. Eventually I decided I wanted to give Jesus my whole heart. It was the best decision I\u2019ve ever made. It doesn\u2019t mean I don\u2019t have tough days! I now just know who ultimately has my heart and I\u2019m learning to trust God. Growing up I had multiple surgeries to help with boney overgrowth. What made this so difficult was the healing process and not understanding why I had to go through all of that pain. I also had to learn how to walk each time, but looking back quitting was never an option. I got through every single challenging moment of my life because of my determination that God gave me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBelieve you are capable of incredible things and that God has a plan for every individual,\u201d she continued. \u201cI want you to embrace who God made you to be. To love every part of yourself, flaws and all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor so long, I was so as ashamed of my legs and I used to hide them, but I now know God made me this way to be a light in this world,\u201d the athlete added. \u201cBeing born without legs was never a punishment. I now look at my legs and think of all the people I\u2019ve been able to touch because God made me this way. Embrace who you are! Shine bright and never ever give up on your dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an&nbsp;Instagram post celebrating the ad, Long posted: \u201cNo words will ever amount to how much this means to me. To have my story shared in such a way brings absolute chills. Thank you to Toyota for bringing my story to life. Thank you to my parents for adopting me and giving me the best life. Thank you to my friends and family for supporting me all these years. Thanks to my coaches for pushing me to be the best.
