Roger Marshall&nbsp;(R-KS) sent Dr. Anthony Fauci an official letter on Wednesday demanding copies of Fauci\u2019s financial disclosures following a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/11\/what-a-moron-hot-mic-catches-fauci-name-calling-sen-marshall-after-heated-senate-hearing\/\">heated exchange<\/a> at the&nbsp;Senate Health Committee hearing this week.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall pressed Fauci on his disclosures at the Tuesday hearing, to which the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases grew visibly irritated, claimed the records are publicly available, and insisted Marshall was \u201cmisinformed.\u201d&nbsp;At the end of the exchange, a hot mic caught Fauci saying, \u201cWhat a moron. Jesus Christ.\u201d&nbsp;Fauci, who is also chief medical adviser to the president, is&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/adamandrzejewski\/2021\/01\/25\/dr-anthony-fauci-the-highest-paid-employee-in-the-entire-us-federal-government\/?sh=6e165cb386f0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">reportedly<\/a>&nbsp;the highest-paid employee in the entire U.S. federal government.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Calling me a moron during a Senate hearing may have alleviated the stress of the least trusted bureaucrat in America, but it didn\u2019t take away from the facts. We need the truth Dr. Fauci! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GyfdppfNgn\">pic.twitter.com\/GyfdppfNgn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dr. Roger Marshall (@RogerMarshallMD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RogerMarshallMD\/status\/1481029428754984968?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his letter, Marshall \u2014 who is a medical doctor himself \u2014 reiterated his request for Fauci to provide his financial disclosures and investments to Congress and the public and acknowledged the hearing exchange. The letter reads in part:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As a member of the committee directly responsible for the oversight of NIAID, I expect a direct, transparent, and honest answer. Instead I was met with a personal insult, deflection, and counter question as to why financial disclosures are important. At a time when multiple federal officials have stepped down due to questionable financial transactions during the pandemic, these questions are both reasonable and relevant.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Marshall noted that, as a U.S. senator \u201cexercising oversight powers,\u201d he is allowed to request disclosures in a public hearing.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cToday, you still have not provided me with a copy of your financial disclosures nor have you made your financial disclosures available to the public,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>The senator cited several media reports, including one from the <em>New York Post<\/em>&nbsp;following the hearing, which said a spokesperson for Fauci\u2019s office was unable to produce or immediately point to the financial disclosures Fauci claimed are publicly available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, according to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/11\/dr-fauci-accuses-rand-paul-of-fueling-threats-against-him\/?fbclid=IwAR0M9x5C1xd9517t-NkX44dYoQpzC11eK7cqaACOH2zBNCWy0E3OpKG5Vfo\">New York Post<\/a><\/em>, Center for Public Integrity reporter Liz Essley Whyte tweeted a copy of a disclosure form signed by you in April 2020, but that document had extensive redactions,\u201d the letter continues.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall also pointed to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/adamandrzejewski\/2022\/01\/12\/no-faucis-records-arent-available-online-why-wont-nih-immediately-release-them\/?source=bloomberg&amp;sh=4f7aa18646bd\">report<\/a> from <em>Forbes<\/em> contributor Adam Andrzejewski. In a piece titled \u201cNo, Fauci\u2019s Records Aren\u2019t Available Online. Why Won\u2019t NIH Immediately Release Them?\u201d&nbsp;Andrzejewski wrote that the NIH has not provided several documents requested through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), including&nbsp;conflict of interest disclosures, financial disclosures, and royalty payments.&nbsp;Andrzejewski notably leads OpenTheBooks.com, which is suing the NIH for production of those records. According to his report, the NIH&nbsp; holds approximately 1,200 pages relating to Fauci\u2019s financial information and conflict of interest disclosures, and has agreed to release 300 pages per month starting Feb. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall said several of his own requests for information from Fauci\u2019s office \u201chave required months for a response or are still outstanding.\u201d The senator gave Fauci until 5:00 p.m. on January 14 to provide the requested financial disclosures and additionally told him to resend a less redacted version of disclosed financial documents sent on April 21, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><em>Katherine Hamilton is a political reporter for Breitbart News.
