Clinton,&nbsp;served in county jail was \u201cplenty of punishment\u201d for&nbsp;\u201cwhat happened in this case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The judge also admonished \u201cadults\u201d who apparently facilitated or allowed the party where the alleged incident took place to happen, noting of underaged kids being served liquor and \u201ccoeds and female people\u201d \u201cswim[ming] in their underwear in their swimming pool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clinton defense attorney Drew Schnack said Judge Adrian \u201cacknowledged\u201d that his client shouldn\u2019t have been found guilty in the first place, while prosecution suggested the alleged victim spoke out for nothing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Clinton has served almost five months in the county jail, 148 days,\u201d Judge Adrian said, according to Herald-Whig <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whig.com\/news\/adams-county-judge-condemned-for-comments-in-sexual-assault-case\/article_6998445a-7038-11ec-abdc-7729bb090472.html\">reporting<\/a>. \u201cFor what happened in this case, that is plenty of punishment. That would be a just sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The judge reportedly noted that Clinton (who turned 18 weeks ago) was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident and had&nbsp;no prior criminal record.<\/p>\n<p>The 16-year-old accuser said last May that Clinton raped her at a graduation party. \u201cI woke up at my friend\u2019s place with a pillow over my face so I couldn\u2019t be heard and Drew Clinton inside of me,\u201d she told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wgem.com\/2022\/01\/12\/judges-reversal-criminal-sexual-assault-case-draws-ire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WGEM<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked him to stop multiple times and he wouldn\u2019t,\u201d the girl claimed. \u201cI finally got off the couch and pushed him off of me and he jumped up and just started playing video games as if nothing had happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judge Adrian reportedly railed at the adults who should have been supervising the kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what\u2019s happened when parents do not exercise their parental responsibilities, when we have people, adults, having parties for teenagers, and they allow coeds and female people to swim in their underwear in their swimming pool,\u201d he said after announcing his ruling. \u201cAnd, no, underwear is not the same as swimming suits. It\u2019s just \u2013 they allow 16-year-old to bring liquor to a party. They provide liquor to underage people, and you wonder how these things happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, that\u2019s how these things happen,\u201d the judge added. \u201cThe Court is totally disgusted with that whole thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schnack said Judge&nbsp;Adrian \u201cacknowledged that he should have found Clinton not guilty from the start,\u201d the&nbsp;Herald-Whig reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only evidence of what went on in that room for that three- or four-hour period of time was the girl saying couldn\u2019t remember or didn\u2019t know, and (Clinton) who was interviewed by the police when they first picked him up and gave a long, long statement and who testified in court,\u201d the attorney said. \u201cHis statement has never changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adams County Assistant State\u2019s Attorney Anita Rodriguez said the turnaround from the judge was the first she\u2019s seen in all her decades in court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy heart is bleeding for the victim,\u201d Rodriguez said of her client. \u201cIt was a very difficult bench trial. It did a lot for her healing process, but now she\u2019s back to where we were at.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez emphasized that her client never gave consent for the sexual encounter and woke up with a pillow being pushed on her face.&nbsp;\u201cIn fact, earlier in the evening she had specifically indicated that she did not want any sexual contact with this defendant,\u201d the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n<p>In a victim-impact statement, the accuser said Clinton took advantage of her while she was unconscious at a party. \u201cThis wasn\u2019t a one-time mistake made by a guy who misinterpreted the night,\u201d she said. \u201cYou saw me unconscious and took the chance that I wouldn\u2019t wake up and if I did wouldn\u2019t be believed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement continued, \u201cUnlike so many other girls whose cries for help weren\u2019t heard mine was. And it doesn\u2019t matter what I was wearing that night or the fact that I was drinking. You took advantage of an unconscious girl and there was ZERO consent given that night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The accuser\u2019s stepmom suggested the judge was victim-blaming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe put the blame on the victim, and he erased everything that we have put her through counseling for,\u201d the stepmom said, adding, \u201cShe\u2019s depressed. She\u2019s sad, and she\u2019s already attempted suicide because of what (Clinton) did to her anyway, so we are just terrified.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd he may not have meant what he said, the way that he said it, but the way that several people interpreted it was \u2018It\u2019s your fault. You got drunk. It\u2019s your fault. You went skinny dipping. It\u2019s your fault,\u2019\u201d the accuser\u2019s father said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not trying to ruin an 18-year-old\u2019s life like that,\u201d the dad added. \u201cI get it. You made a bad choice.
