A decision is expected on Friday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Djokovic saga has become world wide news after the nine-time Australian Open champion arrived in Australia with a medical exemption from the Victorian government from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, only to have the Australian government cancel his visa and threaten to deport him from the country.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic\u2019s lawyers appealed the decision, and he was released from an Australian immigration detention facility on Monday after Australian Judge Anthony Kelly reinstated his visa following an appeal by Djokovic\u2019s lawyers. Kelly ruled that the federal government\u2019s decision to cancel Djokovic\u2019s visa following his arrival in Australia was \u201cunreasonable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However it plays out, one tennis star seems at least impressed with Djokovic\u2019s \u201cguts\u201d in showing up to Australia unvaccinated.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor sure, he\u2019s been playing by his own rules and has been doing what not many players had the guts to do, especially after the ATP announced certain criteria for players to enter the country,\u201d Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas told India\u2019s WION news channel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one would have really thought they could come to Australia unvaccinated and not having to follow the protocols\u2026 it takes a lot of daring to do and putting the Grand Slam at risk, which I don\u2019t think many players would do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tsitsipas was pressed on whether Djokovic should be allowed to play in the 2022 Australian Open, to which he said Djokovic refusing to be vaccinated makes the rest of the field \u201clook like fools.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are two ways to look at it\u2026.One way is that almost every single player almost\u2026 have been vaccinated\u2026 have followed the protocols to compete in Australia,\u201d Tsitsipas said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the other sense, it seems like not everyone is playing by the rules\u2026 a very small [minority] chose to follow their own way, which kind of makes the majority look like fools,\u201d he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Punchy from Stefanos Tsitsipas who says Novak Djokovic has been &#8220;playing by his own rules&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve all followed the protocols to compete in Australia\u2026 and a very small minority chose to follow their own way which makes [us] look like fools.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/AusOpen?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#AusOpen<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9pT69IBUdU\">pic.twitter.com\/9pT69IBUdU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 James Gray (@jamesgraysport) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jamesgraysport\/status\/1481546936176029699?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rival Rafael Nadal, who called the unvaccinated \u201ca bit selfish\u201d in November, supported the decision by the Australian courts to reinstate Djokovic\u2019s visa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegardless of whether or not I agree on some things with Djokovic, without any doubt, justice has spoken,\u201d Nadal said. \u201cThey have said he has the right to play in the Australian Open and I really believe that is the fairest thing if the issue has been resolved, which seems to be the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tournament begins January 16 and runs through January 30.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Morgan is the Sports Reporter for The Daily Wire.
