The album arrived atop the list three weeks ago, on the chart dated Jan. 23,\u201d reported Billboard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Feb. 6, <em>Billboard<\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/business\/chart-beat\/9522537\/morgan-wallen-airplay-streams-sales-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;that Wallen\u2019s airplay had collapsed to a nominal amount through Feb. 5, after multiple radio groups&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/country\/9520243\/morgan-wallen-removed-iheartradio-cumulus-racial-slur-fallout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dropped his music<\/a>. Concurrently, his songs were removed from over 30 influential playlists across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Pandora (though his music remained available on all services),\u201d the report added. \u201cAlso, though Big Loud suspended Wallen\u2019s recording contract indefinitely, his music was not removed from any digital retailers (like iTunes), and remains available in brick-and-mortar retail stores.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last Wednesday, at the height of the controversy, Wallen\u2019s sales&nbsp;rose 1,220%.<\/p>\n<p>As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/siriusxm-pandora-cmt-iheartradio-pull-morgan-wallen-music-following-n-word-video-recorded-by-neighbor\">reported<\/a> last week,&nbsp;SiriusXM, Pandora, CMT, iHeartRadio and many others pulled Morgan Wallen\u2019s music after a neighbor recorded him drunkenly referring to a white friend as the N-word.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Wallen\u2019s music was first pulled by&nbsp;Cumulus Media. The country music heavyweight sent a directive to all of its 400-plus stations to remove Wallen\u2019s songs from their playlists \u201ceffective immediately,\u201d Variety&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2021\/music\/news\/morgan-wallen-country-radio-removed-racial-slur-1234899010\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>iHeartRadio, Entercom, cable network CMT, satellite service SiriusXM, and streaming service Pandora have all also removed the 27-year-old\u2019s songs. Variety noted that Wallen\u2019s music is not currently appearing on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, too.&nbsp;Nashville-based label Big Loud has suspended their contract with Wallen \u201cindefinitely.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Wallen was also disqualified from playing at the Country Music Awards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m embarrassed and sorry,\u201d Wallen said. \u201cI used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ashlyne Wallen, Morgan\u2019s sister, said the total destruction of his music career is yet another example of cancel culture\u2019s lack of mercy or opportunity for growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018There are only 3 things you should ever do about a mistake: admit it, learn from it, and don\u2019t repeat it,\u2019\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/morgan-wallen-sister-slams-cancel-culture-following-brothers-deplatforming\">Ashlyne stated<\/a> in an Instagram post last week. \u201cCancel culture is the worst thing that has come out of our digital world. It leaves no room for forgiveness and growth, in turn, leaving no opportunity for individuals who have made mistakes to learn from them. If you make a mistake or do something stupid then apologize, correct your mistake, and learn through personal growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe world we live in thrives off drama and bringing others down. I refuse to be part of that,\u201d her post continued. \u201cIf my family or my friends make a mistake and apologize, I\u2019m going to listen, accept it, and expect them to learn from their mistake.&nbsp;Someone who is truly sorry should be forgiven \u2014 not continuously bashed.
