Gen. Kevin Vereen, who leads Army recruiting, told the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/us-army-adds-bonus-recruitment-b6be4a79b014327e1105dc7a857c8f56\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a> the competitive job market and complications of COVID-19 have impacted recent recruiting efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still living the implications of 2020 and the onset of COVID, when the school systems basically shut down,\u201d Vereen said. \u201cWe lost a full class of young men and women that we didn\u2019t have contact with, face-to-face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>AP noted the Army\u2019s annual recruiting goal was 57,500, with a similar goal for 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in a competitive market,\u201d Vereen added in the interview. \u201cHow we incentivize is absolutely essential, and that is absolutely something that we know that is important to trying to get somebody to come and join the military.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Money is not the only factor influencing recruitment. Some potential Army recruits may have other concerns related to the military\u2019s vaccine mandates or \u201cwoke\u201d agenda.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/army-releases-woke-cartoon-recruitment-ad-after-woke-cia-ads-mocked\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> about a 2021 series of Army recruitment ads littered with progressive themes:<\/p>\n<p><em>The U.S. Army has released a series of cartoon recruitment ads saturated with woke themes, such as advocating for LGBT issues, just days after the CIA caught flack for a similarly woke recruitment ad campaign.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>One of the Army\u2019s new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goarmy.com\/the-calling.html\">video ads<\/a>&nbsp;features an LGBT rights march as well as a lesbian wedding.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis is the story of a soldier who operates your nation\u2019s Patriot missile Defense Systems. But they have gotten more than 4,700 requests \u2014 far more than the other military services, and the logistics of the lengthy review process has made it difficult to meet that timeline.
