Phil Murphy (D-NJ) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovMurphy\/status\/1480649912820047872\">said<\/a> on Twitter. \u201cI will sign this bill into law this week. With Roe v. Wade under attack, the need for this bill is more urgent than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The legislation also gives the state\u2019s Department of Banking and Insurance the option to study the need for regulations requiring health coverage plans to pay for abortions. The law, however, provides exemptions for religious employers.<\/p>\n<p>Progressive institutions \u2014 including New Jersey\u2019s branch of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu-nj.org\/news\/2022\/01\/10\/aclu-nj-calls-legislators-and-governor-murphy-go-beyond-decl\">lauded<\/a> the passage of the bill, linking its passage to the prevention of \u201cwhite supremacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo meaningfully protect the right to abortion and ensure equitable access, we must go beyond the status quo and guarantee that abortion is affordable for all New Jerseyans, regardless of insurance access, immigration status, or income,\u201d said ACLU-NJ policy director Sarah Fajardo. \u201cWithout addressing the systemic barriers rooted in white supremacy and xenophobia that keep essential health care out of reach for so many, the right to an abortion remains one that many New Jerseyans struggle to access.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The passage of the bill appears to follow President Joe Biden\u2019s call to codify Roe v. Wade \u2014 the 1973 Supreme Court ruling which claimed that abortion is protected under the Constitution \u2014 as law. However, the bill also occurs amid a growing movement of Christians willing to defy Roe v. Wade and abolish abortion.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/how-an-mlb-pitcher-and-gun-rights-lobbyist-are-teaming-up-to-abolish-abortion-one-state-at-a-time\">The Daily Wire<\/a>, Dennis Sarfate and Zach Lautenschlager \u2014 who lead <a href=\"https:\/\/www.takeactionforlife.org\/\">Action for Life<\/a>, the legislative arm of the Christian ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/endabortionnow.com\/\">End Abortion Now<\/a> \u2014 explained that abortion is the murder of an image-bearer of God, meaning that government officials must ensure equal protection under the law for preborn babies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLife starts at conception \u2014 that is a baby,\u201d Sarfate, a former MLB pitcher, explained. \u201cThat is a human being worthy of respect and worthy of protection. God even calls it murder. We don\u2019t have the authority to take life \u2026 You\u2019re killing an innocent human being that deserves life, that God is allowing to be put into a woman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNational organizations claim to protect the right to life \u2026 when in reality, they send lobbyists to oppose very clear pieces of legislation which acknowledge and codify that, number one, abortion is murder; number two, we need equal protection; and number three, if necessary, we will defy Roe,\u201d Lautenschlager, who was instrumental in the nationwide passage of constitutional carry laws, added. \u201cThat is abolition \u2014 and that is what we are pursuing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
