Panel chair&nbsp;Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) said the committee has \u201creason to believe\u201d the three hold \u201crelevant information\u201d pertaining to the January 6 riot.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Select Committee is seeking information from individuals who were involved with the rally at the Ellipse. Protests on that day escalated into an attack on our democracy. We have reason to believe the individuals we\u2019ve subpoenaed today have relevant information and we expect them to join the more than 340 individuals who have spoken with the Select Committee as we push ahead to investigate this attack on our democracy and ensure nothing like this ever happens again.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Thompson emphasized in his letters to Surabian and Schwartz that the committee wanted to investigate the pair\u2019s contacts with January 6 rally figures: Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle, Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich, Trump adviser Katrina Pierson, Publix heiress Julie Fancelli, and GOP fundraiser Caroline Wren.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Bean, a lawyer for Surabian, said in a statement that while he will comply with the committee, it made little sense for them to issue a subpoena:<\/p>\n<section class=\"page-content__row page-content__row--story main-section\">\n<div class=\"container container--story story-layout--fixed-fluid\">\n<div class=\"container__column container__column--story\">\n<div class=\"container__row container__row--story story-layout--fluid-fixed\">\n<div class=\"container__column container__column--story center-horizontally\">\n<div class=\"story-text\">\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">While we plan on cooperating with the Committee within reason, we are bewildered as to why Mr. Surabian is being subpoenaed in the first place. He had nothing at all to do with the events that took place at the [Capitol] that day, zero involvement in organizing the rally that preceded it and was off the payroll of the Trump campaign as of November 15, 2020.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">\u201cDuring the time period that the rally was being organized, Mr. Surabian was overseeing a Super PAC in support of Republican Senate candidates in Georgia,\u201d added Bean.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">Bean also pointed out Surabian is currently serving on a Super PAC opposing the reelection of January 6 committee member Rep.
