He said he\u2019ll support changes to the filibuster to make it happen,\u201d Whoopi Goldberg began, noting that some were referring to the federal election overhaul as a \u201cpower grab.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought that\u2019s what January 6th was all about, but maybe I\u2019m crazy,\u201d Goldberg added, noting that some Democrats were pressuring the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/stacey-abrams-to-skip-voting-rights-speech-by-biden-this-is-pretty-damning-and-a-warning-sign\/\">White House<\/a> to take more immediate action on the issue. \u201cSome local Democrats also say there\u2019s no reason for the president to be there unless he\u2019s ready to take action today. He\u2019s not, you know, in charge of the Senate, and he\u2019s not in charge of the House. Well, the limits of the presidency get mentioned all the time when Biden can\u2019t get it done, but the power of the presidency is on full display basically when he gets a win like with infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hostin went on to say that she would like to see Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in West Virginia and Arizona, putting pressure on Senators <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/they-still-need-joe-manchins-vote-on-literally-everything-guy-benson-calls-wh-decision-to-torch-manchin-mind-blowing\/\">Joe Manchin<\/a> (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). But she also noted that they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/01\/10\/democrats-filibuster-vote-526863\">not the only ones<\/a> who could stand in the way of changing or scrapping the Senate filibuster \u2014 which Democrats need to do if they want to pass their proposed election overhaul without any Republican support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd by the way, where is Mark Kelly who is up for re-election in November? Where is he, Mr. Centrist, because he now says he hasn\u2019t decided what he wants to do about the filibuster,\u201d Hostin continued. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t know what he wants to do about voter legislation. So Mark Kelly\u2019s position is really reminding me about the \u2018white moderate\u2019 that Martin Luther King Jr. warned us in his \u2018Letter from a Birmingham Jail\u2019 in 1963. He thinks we should wait for justice. I don\u2019t think we need to wait for justice, and I fully understand why there are a lot of voter rights groups that are not going to meet Joe Biden in Georgia, because I don\u2019t really think he should be there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hartford-hwp.com\/archives\/45a\/060.html\">Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.<\/a> wrote in 1963 that he had been \u201cgravely disappointed with the white moderate,\u201d arguing that moderates who refused to stand up for the right thing \u2014 in that case, the Civil Rights movement \u2014 could at times do more damage than those who actively fought against it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro\u2019s great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen\u2019s Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to \u2018order\u2019 than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says \u2018I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can\u2019t agree with your methods of direct action;\u2019 who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man\u2019s freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a \u2018more convenient season,&#8217;\u201d King wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
