Therefore, Intel is required to ensure our supply chain does not use any labor or source goods or services from the Xinjiang region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>China took offense to the letter, financial news website Benzinga <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/government\/21\/12\/24757792\/intel-apologizes-after-asking-suppliers-to-avoid-chinas-xinjiang-region\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChinese state-run media and the nation\u2019s social media channels \u2014&nbsp;which consist almost entirely of pro-government messaging \u2014&nbsp;took aim at Intel. The Global Times newspaper ran an editorial accusing Intel of being subservient to U.S. government demands while insisting that China\u2019s leadership should make it \u2018increasingly expensive for companies to offend China,\u2019\u201d the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p>The Times editorial also demanded Chinese produce its own semiconductors, writing that \u201cAn important reason why Intel dares to offend China over the Xinjiang-related affairs is that it holds the monopoly of the global chip market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter also caused Chinese pop star Karry Wang of the country\u2019s boy band TFBoys to end his role as Intel\u2019s Chinese brand ambassador, with his management office saying on Chinese media platform Weibo that \u201cNational interests trumps everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Intel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tech-company-intel-apologizes-in-china-after-saying-it-will-not-source-products-from-uyghur-regions\">quickly caved<\/a> to the backlash from China, issuing an apology on its Chinese social media accounts, Benzinga reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe deeply apologize for the confusion caused to our respected Chinese customers, partners and the public,\u201d Intel said, insisting it was merely trying to follow U.S. law and that the letter did not reflect the company\u2019s opinions on China\u2019s treatment of Uyghurs in Xinjiang.<\/p>\n<p>The law Intel was attempting to comply with was the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, which President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-signs-uyghur-forced-labor-prevention-act-into-law\">signed<\/a> into law last year.<\/p>\n<p>This week, the Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/intel-erases-reference-to-chinas-xinjiang-after-social-media-backlash-11641808676?mod=hp_lead_pos4\">reported<\/a>, it appears Intel has removed mention of Xinjiang from a copy of the supplier letter posted on its website.<\/p>\n<p>It now says that Intel does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/intel-deletes-reference-xinjiang-after-backlash-china-2022-01-11\/\">not<\/a> allow, \u201cany human trafficked or involuntary labour such as forced, debt bonded, prison, indentured, or slave labour throughout your extended supply chains.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company said Monday that it \u201crecently issued a statement in China to address concerns raised by our stakeholders there regarding how we communicated certain legal requirements and policies with our global supplier network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As The Daily Wire has previously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/more-leaked-documents-from-china-how-the-country-brainwashes-muslims-in-labor-camps\">reported<\/a>, leaked documents from the Chinese Communist Party show just how far the oppression of Muslim minorities goes.
