Shaub served most of his tenure under former President Barack Obama before resigning from former President Donald Trump\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n<p>As the Examiner reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cIt is not acceptable for the President of the United States to be part of the book promotion tour. No,\u201d tweeted Shaub, a U.S. Office of Government Ethics former director under Obama. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/waltshaub\/status\/1358490663910785024\">tweet<\/a>&nbsp;that was issued Sunday afternoon was deleted but not before the&nbsp;Washington Examiner&nbsp;viewed its contents.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Shaub also said it was \u201cwonderful\u201d that Hunter Biden, 51, was sharing his experience with addiction because it could help Hunter and other people fighting personal demons. But Shaub added the president\u2019s comments regarding the memoir,&nbsp;Beautiful Things, were ethically compromised. There appears to have been other tweets by Shaub in the past 24 hours knocking Biden for the comments about his son\u2019s book, but they were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JuddLegum\/status\/1358215982582530049\">also erased<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBeautiful Things\u201d in part covers Hunter\u2019s chronic struggles with drugs and alcohol abuse. Biden touted his son\u2019s memoir during an interview with CBS News over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI bet there\u2019s not a family you know who doesn\u2019t have somebody in the family that had a drug problem, or an alcohol problem,\u201d Biden said. \u201cBut the honesty with which he stepped forward and talked about the problem and the hope that, it gave me hope reading it. I mean, it was like my boy is back, you know what I mean? Anyway, I\u2019m sorry to get so personal.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe honesty with which he stepped forward and talked about the problem,\u201d Pres. Biden says of his son Hunter\u2019s memoir on his struggles with addiction, \u201cit gave me hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was like my boy\u2019s back,\u201d Pres. In 2014, Hunter was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/bidens-son-hunter-discharged-from-navy-reserve-after-failing-cocaine-test-1413499657\">discharged<\/a> from the Navy after testing positive for cocaine. He has also done several stints in rehab since 2003.<\/p>\n<p>Less than a month into his presidency, Biden is facing renewed allegations that his members of his family, largely his two brothers and his son, are using the Biden family name to profit for themselves. Biden has also been accused of trying to profit off some of his family\u2019s business deals, namely one that Hunter attempted to strike with a Chinese energy executive in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>One of Hunter\u2019s former business partners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hunter-biden-business-partner-a-pro-democrat-navy-veteran-hunter-asked-dad-to-sign-off-on-deals\">Anthony Bobulinski<\/a>, claimed last year that Biden was one of the beneficiaries of a business deal that Hunter was trying to strike with Ye Jianming, the former chairman of the now-bankrupt CEFC China Energy.<\/p>\n<p>In December, Hunter said in a statement that his \u201ctax affairs\u201d are under investigation by the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hunter-biden-says-tax-affairs-under-federal-investigation\">Hunter<\/a> said in a statement. \u201cI take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
