Yet you are the focus. So I suspect if you are an ineffective governor, you wouldn\u2019t threaten the left-wing media, the Democrat party\u2026.You have some really terrible media here. This is me speaking. Palm Beach is just a disaster; Orlando, Tampa, disaster, like most of the rest of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you were a mediocre Democrat governor, or if you had been a Cuomo, a disastrous governor, you wouldn\u2019t be getting this kind of attention, would you?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d DeSantis answered bluntly. \u201cLook, when you\u2019re over the target, they\u2019re gonna come at you. But what I view it as, I view it as positive feedback. If the corporate press nationally isn\u2019t attacking me, then I\u2019m probably not doing my job. So the fact that they are attacking me is a good indication that you know what? I\u2019m tackling the big issues. We\u2019re going after Critical Race Theory; we\u2019re fighting back against Biden\u2019s mandates; we\u2019re fighting back against the illegal immigration, all those things that a vast majority of Floridians and Americans want to see done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that does threaten the ruling class and the regime,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd so when you stand up in this day and age that we\u2019re in, when you\u2019re speaking the truth, those folks do not want that to get out. And so they are gonna throw arrows at you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I think what we\u2019ve been able to show is: If you stand your ground; if you lead; if you don\u2019t back down and just stand for the right things, there\u2019s a groundswell of folks who will have your back,\u201d he declared. \u201cAnd that ultimately is what it\u2019s all about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Levin segued to the trouble Florida has had in obtaining monoclonal antibodies, which deal with the coronavirus therapeutically, from the federal government, asking, \u201cDid you ever think an issue like a pandemic or vaccines or this monoclonal antibody, did you ever think that that would be politicized the way that Washington has politicized it and Biden and stuff like that? You\u2019ve had to fight like hell to get the citizens of this state the monoclonal antibodies that you have focused on very heavily, this therapeutic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd as a side point, as a footnote, I was in Florida; my family was in Florida; I got the Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccine; I got the booster, then I got the virus,\u201d Levin recalled. \u201cAnd we looked it up on the internet and there was a center 20 miles away where we could go to get the monoclonal antibody, which you really are supposed to get within 48 hours if you can, and after the first day where I felt lousy I felt fine. I mean, it actually works, and you have them all over the state, you\u2019re really the only governor who\u2019s done this and yet you\u2019re the focus of Washington. The bureaucrats and the Democrat politicians who are saying, \u2018That works. Let\u2019s withhold the monoclonal antibodies.\u2019 What do you make of that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all political,\u201d DeSantis replied. \u201cAnd we set up these centers this summer when we started to see Delta variant rear its head, and it worked. We were keeping tens of thousands of people out of the hospitals, saved thousands of lives. No one disputes that. Well, as that was happening in September, they, the federal government, decided to seize control of the monoclonal antibodies and cut supplies to Florida and Texas, mainly. Now I was able to do a deal with another company \u2026 and then our numbers were so low that there just wasn\u2019t a lot of demand for it for many months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, now that you see Omicron, you start to see more prevalence in the winter, which we anticipated, there\u2019d be an increase in demand, we\u2019re not getting what we need,\u201d DeSantis pointed out. \u201cAnd so we\u2019re working through that; we think we have the potential to have a positive solution on that, but you know, what HHS will say is, \u2018Florida, you use too much of it.\u2019 Well, part of the reason we use more than other states is because we\u2019ve actually embraced treatment. Most of these other governors and the people like Fauci in the federal leadership, they basically say, \u2018Get a shot. Wear a mask.\u2019 They never talk about treatment.
