Adam Schiff (D-CA) fundraised off of House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy\u2019s (R-CA) exclusive interview with Breitbart News, in which McCarthy said he would oust Schiff from the Intelligence Committee if McCarthy became speaker of the House.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/10\/exclusive-kevin-mccarthy-plans-to-strip-ilhan-omar-off-foreign-affairs-eric-swalwell-and-adam-schiff-off-intelligence-committee\/\">told<\/a> Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle Monday that he would strip Schiff and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) of their assignments on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) of her assignment on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Schiff spokesperson Lauren French <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/10\/schiff-shaken-catastrophic-if-mccarthy-becomes-speaker-and-boots-him-off-intel-committee\/\">said<\/a> in response to the story:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is always difficult to take Kevin McCarthy seriously. Nevertheless, allowing McCart[h]y to get anywhere near the Speaker\u2019s gavel would be catastrophic \u2014 not just because of his propensity for falsehoods and smears, but because he will exist solely to do Donald Trump\u2019s bidding \u2014 even potentially overturning the 2024 results.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite French\u2019s statement that it is \u201calways difficult\u201d to take McCarthy seriously, Schiff\u2019s campaign team swiftly took action, blasting out a fundraising email detailing McCarthy\u2019s plan to oust Schiff from the Intelligence Committee.<\/p>\n<p>See a copy of the email below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Schiff-Email.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19435250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Schiff-Email.jpg\" alt=\"Schiff Email\" width=\"558\" height=\"925\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Schiff also proceeded to characterize Breitbart News falsely:<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>I want to preface this article headline I\u2019m about to share with you with a caveat: Breitbart is a race-bating, despicable mouthpiece for the far-right and those looking to harness the anger of those on the fringes of politics.<\/p>\n<p>That being said\u2026 and maybe for that reason, Kevin McCarthy just did an exclusive interview with them. In the interview, McCarthy once again threatened to strip me of my committee assignments in Congress if&nbsp;Republicans win a majority.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Schiff also called McCarthy\u2019s call to remove Schiff \u201clittle more than McCarthy\u2019s usual craven appeal to his base, but it is nonetheless a serious threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The California Democrat said that removing him from the committee would \u201cundermine accountability:\u201d<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>If Donald Trump demands he do something, Kevin does it. And Trump believes that no one has done more to hold him accountable, or was more of a force in bringing about his impeachment&nbsp;than I was. (And I\u2019m proud of it.)<\/p>\n<p>This is yet another reason why a Republican majority must never happen. McCarthy knows that I will never shy away from my committee oversight responsibilities. That I will always stand up to him, and expose his duplicity to the American people.<\/p>\n<p>But there is a far bigger concern than what McCarthy would do to remove Democrats from their committee assignments in an attempt to undermine accountability, and that is this: He will vote to overturn the next presidential election if Trump loses again.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He added, \u201cWe cannot \u2013 and I cannot express this enough \u2013 allow Kevin McCarthy to hold the Speaker\u2019s Gavel. We just can\u2019t. We cannot allow the GOP to take the House. It would spell disaster.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy told Boyle about his plan to remove Democrats from committee assignments:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Democrats have created a new thing where they\u2019re picking and choosing who can be on committees. Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who can be on committee. But this new standard which these Democrats have voted for\u2014if Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the private sector, there is no reason why he should be given one to be on Intel or Homeland Security.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He added, \u201cHe will not be serving there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><i>Sean Moran is a congressional reporter for Breitbart News.
