Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Nikki-Haley-2.jpg?w=1200&amp;h=800&amp;ixlib=react-9.0.3\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" \/><\/div>\n<p><span>In a new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prageru.com\/video\/capitalism-wins\/\">video<\/a> from PragerU, Nikki Haley, former governor of South Carolina and U.S. Ambassador to the United States, Haley explains why we should \u201cdouble down\u201d on capitalism rather than embracing more socialist policies.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Capitalism, says Haley, \u201cremains not just the best,<\/span> <span>but the only<\/span> <span>chance for the least fortunate in the world to make life better for themselves and their children.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnd the more we see of capitalism\u2019s rival, socialism,\u201d Haley continues, citing her wide-ranging political experience, \u201cthe more proof we have that capitalism is the way we want to go.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Haley begins by describing her upbringing, growing up \u201cin South Carolina as the daughter of Indian immigrants.\u201d Her mother demonstrated \u201cwhat it meant to live the American dream\u201d after growing a successful business. \u201cAs my mother\u2019s story so vividly illustrates,\u201d Haley says, \u201cAmerica is a country where people can find jobs that match their talents and passions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSome Americans take this for granted,\u201d Haley asserts. \u201cThe rest of the world envies it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Haley then moves on to her time as governor of South Carolina, where she \u201cmarveled at capitalism\u2019s power to improve lives,\u201d noting that her administration\u2019s \u201c<\/span>pro free-market policies helped bring in more than <a href=\"https:\/\/lmi.dew.sc.gov\/lmi%20site\/documents\/South_Carolina_2018_Economic_Analysis_Report.pdf\">$20 billion<\/a> in investment and created jobs in every county of the state,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose jobs provide dignity and purpose,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd as I often say, when you give a person a job, you take care of a family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>Then, Haley discusses her most recent political position \u2014 U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, where she was \u201creminded that not every country enjoys the same freedom and prosperity as America,\u201d with more than<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/progressivism\/commentary\/what-americans-must-know-about-socialism\"><span>1.5 billion<\/span><\/a> <span>people still suffering under socialist regimes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As an example, Haley describes an<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/on-colombia-visit-haley-blames-maduro-for-venezuelas-ruin\/2018\/08\/08\/0cbfbc82-9b24-11e8-b60b-1c897f17e185_story.html\"><span>experience<\/span><\/a> <span>in 2018, standing on the Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar Bridge at the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/us-ambassador-united-nations-nikki-haley-visits-venezuela\/story?id=57104744\"><span>border<\/span><\/a> <span>of Venezuela and Colombia, where she witnessed thousands of Venezuelans crossing into Colombia for the \u201conly meal they might have that day,\u201d as the lives of millions of Venezuelan families were destroyed by the country\u2019s socialist policies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Given these experiences, Haley asks us to imagine her \u201cdismay to find that socialism has become trendy here in America.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAmerican socialists claim they seek a more enlightened socialism, like the one found in Scandinavian countries,\u201d she says. In reality, however, these nations are \u201ccapitalist and offer large welfare benefits,\u201d and ironically have needed to \u201crepeatedly slash their corporate tax rates\u201d to make their systems work.<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/denmark\/corporate-tax-rate#:~:text=Corporate%20Tax%20Rate%20in%20Denmark%20is%20expected%20to%20reach%2022.00,according%20to%20our%20econometric%20models\"><span>Denmark<\/span><\/a><span>, for example, has cut its corporate rate by more than half since the 1990s, and<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/progressivism\/commentary\/three-nations-tried-socialism-and-rejected-it\"><span>other democracies<\/span><\/a><span>, including Israel, India and the U.K., only thrived after abandoning their experiments with socialism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe results are in,\u201d Haley states. \u201cSocialism \u2014 however you want to define it \u2014 has failed everywhere it\u2019s been tried. A handful of elites sitting in a government office can never outthink<\/span> <em><span>millions<\/span><\/em> <span>of business owners and consumers making<\/span> <em><span>millions<\/span><\/em> <span>of individual choices every moment of every day. You\u2019d think we\u2019d have gotten the message by now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Capitalism Wins | 5 Minute Video\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9VjKD_z5Av0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>Haley warns that \u201can entire generation of American adults are too young to remember the suffering socialism caused during the last century,\u201d and that, rather than \u201cteaching students to reject our country\u2019s history and founding ideals, schools should have a required class on the history and collapse of the Soviet Union.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Haley also turns her sights on corporate CEOs \u201cwho give in to social trends rather than standing up for a system that their own businesses and workers depend on.\u201d Haley is referencing \u201cstakeholder capitalism,\u201d a philosophy that retains the word \u201ccapitalism\u201d but \u201cabandons its meaning.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cRecently the chief executives of some of America\u2019s largest companies changed their self-definition,\u201d Haley explains. \u201cThey said companies should<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2019\/08\/19\/lobbying-group-powerful-ceos-is-rethinking-how-it-defines-corporations-purpose\/\"><span>focus on<\/span><\/a> <span>customers, workers, and communities.&nbsp; This is just politically correct nonsense.&nbsp; These CEOs know that\u2019s what successful businesses already do.&nbsp; It\u2019s what they have to do to survive in our capitalist system. A company that cheats its customers, mistreats its workers, and abuses its community won\u2019t be around long.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Haley concludes by reminding us of a financial fact: \u201cprofits are what keep a business going and allow it to thrive,\u201d and that these profits \u201cgenerate the funds needed for more job creation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The reason such CEOs are anxious to embrace this \u201cin name only\u201d capitalism, according to Haley, is simply to placate the \u201cnoisemakers on the socialist Left.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBut that\u2019s a fool\u2019s game,\u201d Haley states. \u201cThe Left is never satisfied.<\/span> <span>So, let\u2019s defend what works. And what works is capitalism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cUntil the unforeseeable shut down of the economy as a response to the coronavirus, it was working better than ever. Unemployment was at a<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2020\/05\/08\/record-u-s-unemployment-rate-worst-since-1940\/\"><span>50-year low<\/span><\/a><span>. Wages were rising at the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/wages-rise-at-fastest-rate-in-nearly-a-decade-as-hiring-jumps-in-october-1541161920\"><span>fastest rate<\/span><\/a> <span>in a decade.<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5851352\/women-labor-economy-coronavirus\/\"><span>More women<\/span><\/a> <span>and<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/10\/04\/black-and-hispanic-unemployment-is-at-a-record-low.html\"><span>minorities<\/span><\/a> <span>were working than ever before. Poverty was at a<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/09\/15\/business\/economy\/poverty-record-low-prior-to-pandemic.html#:~:text=the%20main%20story-,U.S.%20Poverty%20Hit%20a%20Record%20Low%20Before%20the%20Pandemic%20Recession,a%20Census%20Bureau%20report%20showed\"><span>record low<\/span><\/a> <span>in America,\u201d Haley adds, before calling<\/span> <span>for us to \u201cget back to that as quickly as possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere\u2019s only one way to do it,\u201d Haley argues. \u201cCapitalism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>PragerU is the world\u2019s leading educational nonprofit focused on changing minds through the creative use of digital media.
