This will be the first time in history a British monarch has reigned for 70 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations throughout the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world as communities come together to celebrate The Queen\u2019s historic reign,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.royal.uk\/platinum-jubilee-central-weekend\">Buckingham Palace<\/a> announced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvents and initiatives\u201d will take place throughout the year, and will culminate in a four day public holiday from Thursday June 2 to Sunday June 5, providing \u201can opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first day of scheduled events on June 2 include The Queen\u2019s Birthday Parade, where \u201cover 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will come together in the traditional Parade to mark The Queen\u2019s official birthday, usually held on the second Saturday in June,\u201d and Platinum Jubilee Beacons, with more than 1,500 beacons lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, and U.K. Overseas Territories.<\/p>\n<p>On June 3, there will be a Service of Thanksgiving held at St. Paul\u2019s Cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on Saturday June 4, the Queen will attend the Derby at Epsom Downs, after which the BBC will \u201cstage and broadcast a special live concert from Buckingham Palace that will bring together some of the world\u2019s biggest entertainment stars to celebrate the most significant and joyous moments from The Queen\u2019s seven decade reign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the final day of celebrations, there will be \u201cBig Jubilee Lunches\u201d held in communities across the country, and The Platinum Jubilee Pageant, during which \u201cartistic performers, dancers, musicians, military personnel, key workers and volunteers will unite to tell the story of The Queen\u2019s 70 year reign in an awe-inspiring festival of creativity,\u201d according to Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, multiple initiatives will \u201ccreate a lasting reminder of The Queen\u2019s Jubilee.\u201d These include <a href=\"https:\/\/queensgreencanopy.org\/\">The Queen\u2019s Green Canopy<\/a>, a \u201cunique tree planting initiative\u201d which \u201cinvites people from across the United Kingdom to \u2018Plant a Tree for the Jubilee,\u2019\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortnumandmason.com\/platinum-pudding\">The Platinum Pudding Competition<\/a>, which invites Britons to invent a new pudding to celebrate the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo mark Her Majesty\u2019s Platinum Jubilee a nationwide baking competition sets out to find a brand new pudding dedicated to The Queen. The Big Jubilee Lunch and Fortnum &amp; Mason are inviting applications from UK residents aged 8 and over to create the perfect Platinum Pudding recipe,\u201d Buckingham Palace explained. \u201cFive finalists will prepare their pudding for an expert judging panel including Dame Mary Berry, Monica Galetti and Buckingham Palace Head Chef Mark Flanagan.
