Pelosi, a frequent trader who has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/19\/nancy-paul-pelosi-big-tech-stocks\/\">profited<\/a>&nbsp;significantly during her time in Congress, defended the practice.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7327541\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7327541\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Traders work on the floor at the New York Stock Exchange in New York City. Clary\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis is a free market and people,\u201d Pelosi said. \u201cWe are a free market economy and we should be able to participate in that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the practice has drawn criticism from other lawmakers, including Democratic Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff, who is reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/08\/jon-ossoff-could-snub-nancy-pelosi-with-ban-on-congress-stock-trades\/\">set<\/a>&nbsp;to introduce a bill banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn an era of hyper-partisanship, voters in all parties agree that members of Congress should not be enriching themselves using \u2018insider information\u2019 while serving the people,\u201d Mark Meckler, president of Convention of States Action, said in a statement to The Hill. \u201cThis issue has received a lot of attention, and this data verifies the American people want this practice to end once and for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The poll surveyed 1,706 likely voters from Dec. 17-21, and it had a margin of error of 3 points.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
