Brian Kemp (R) is pledging to work with the the legislature to get constitutional carry to his desk.<\/p>\n<p>On January 5, 2021, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/05\/gov-brian-kemp-puts-georgia-on-track-for-constitutional-carry\/\">reported<\/a> Kemp press release in which he said, \u201cI believe the United States Constitution grants our citizens the right to carry a firearm \u2013 without state government approval. For law-abiding Georgians, their carry permit is the founding document of our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On December 19, 2021, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/19\/report-florida-track-become-22nd-constitutional-carry-state\/\">cited<\/a> a <em>South Florida Sun Sentinel<\/em>&nbsp;article noting Florida is on the precipice of doing away with its requirement that law-abiding citizens get a permit from the government in order to exercise Second Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Florida\u2019s move toward constitutional carry is being spearheaded by Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R). His bill would secure constitutional carry and legalize the open carry of firearms for self-defense as well. (Florida is one of a handful of states that does not have open carry.)<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Constitutional carry victory! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/udSLgf5dGD\">https:\/\/t.co\/udSLgf5dGD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1378167586282700800?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 3, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The NRA-ILA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20220106\/nebraska-constitutional-carry-legislation-introduced-in-the-cornhusker-state\">reports<\/a> that constitutional carry legislation was put forward in Nebraska on January 5, 2022.&nbsp;The legislation is sponsored by state Senator Tom Brewer (R).<\/p>\n<p>Constitutional carry legislation passed the Ohio Senate in December 2021. The NRA-ILA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20211215\/ohio-senate-passes-constitutional-carry-legislation\">notes<\/a> that the Ohio constitutional carry legislation, Senate Bill 215, \u201cAllows a law-abiding adult who is at least 21 years of age, and legally allowed to possess a firearm, to carry a handgun without first having to obtain government permission\u2026.Additionally, this legislation maintains&nbsp;the existing concealed handgun license system,&nbsp;so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WKBN 27 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wkbn.com\/news\/ohio\/ohio-senate-passes-constitutional-carry-bill\/\">observes<\/a> that the Ohio House had already passed a separate constitutional carry bill, which means the two chambers would have to work together to get the language they want in order to secure passage of a bill eliminating permitting requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Constitutional carry is currently the law of the land in 21 states.
