When she awoke, the young boy and man were no longer at the residence, police were told.&nbsp;But the Lake County State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s office said the story was \u201ccompletely false.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After evidence contradicted the family\u2019s story, investigators turned their focus to the boy\u2019s home in North Chicago, according to a news release from the state\u2019s attorney\u2019s office.&nbsp;Information from witnesses led to the discovery of Damari\u2019s body near an abandoned home in Gary, prosecutors stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a news release <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NorthChicagoPolice\/posts\/4923382997724758\">shared<\/a> on social media, the North Chicago Police Department said the Lake County, Indiana Coroner\u2019s Office retained custody of the body, adding an autopsy would be performed soon:<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NorthChicagoPolice\/posts\/4923382997724758\" data-width=\"640\">\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/graph.facebook.com\/117028965026876\/posts\/4923382997724758\/\" class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\">\n<p>Posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/117028965026876\">North Chicago Police Department<\/a> on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/graph.facebook.com\/117028965026876\/posts\/4923382997724758\/\">Saturday, January 8, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>The child\u2019s mother, 38-year-old Jannie Perry, was charged with first degree murder, concealment of a homicidal death, and obstructing justice, the Lake County State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>In addition, two of the boy\u2019s siblings were accused of concealing a body.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJeremiah R. Perry, 20, was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily hard [sic] to a child under 12, concealing a homicidal death and obstructing justice,\u201d the NBC report said.<\/p>\n<p>A juvenile sibling is facing charges in Lake County\u2019s Juvenile Court, officials said, and the three suspects were placed in custody on Friday.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The suspects reportedly appeared in court Sunday regarding a bond hearing.
