The common thread, the survey found, is that economic nationalism was the top-rated policy solution by nearly every demographic group polled.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Among all likely voters, messaging about the \u201cneed to bring back manufacturing jobs in the U.S. to drive down prices\u201d rated the highest while statements about \u201cprices \u2026 going up because black and brown workers are being squeezed as corporations jack up profits\u201d was rated the lowest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most preferred message is Domestic manufacturing, with a utility score of more than twice the next two most preferred messages,\u201d the analysis states:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>The top two most preferred messages stress policy solutions to inflation. They emphasize that America should create domestic manufacturing jobs<\/strong> or that Democrats and Republicans have already taken bipartisan action to shore up the country\u2019s supply chains. [Emphasis added]\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_19421906\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Screen-Shot-2022-01-09-at-4.46.55-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19421906\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Screen-Shot-2022-01-09-at-4.46.55-PM.png\" alt=\"DFP\" width=\"1434\" height=\"1216\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Chart via Data for Progress<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Swing voters, Republicans, Hispanic voters, women voters, self-described moderates, and working class white Americans rated reshoring manufacturing back to the U.S. from foreign countries as the top messaging and policy solution for inflation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Only black Americans and Democrats rated other policy priorities, like Biden\u2019s \u201cBuild Back Better Act\u201d and the recently-passed infrastructure package, above reshoring American manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>The survey also shows the disdain that Republicans, swing voters, and working class white Americans \u2014 a vital group to the GOP\u2019s electoral coalition \u2014 continue to have for the business practices of corporate America. Among swing voters, for instance, messaging that blamed \u201crecord [corporate] profits while Americans are paying higher prices\u201d resonated strongly.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, Republicans and working class white Americans listed tackling record corporate profits as one of the strongest cases to cutting inflation and lowering costs for American consumers.<\/p>\n<p>As Breitbart News recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/07\/janet-yellen-waves-white-flag-on-globalism-as-made-in-america-companies-thrive-in-supply-chain-crisis\/\">reported<\/a>, businesses that make their products in the U.S. are seeing booming sales and record profits. Unlike offshored manufacturing and outsourced production, these businesses are avoiding all supply chain issues.<\/p>\n<p>From 2001 to 2018, U.S. free trade with China has eliminated&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epi.org\/blog\/u-s-trade-deficit-hits-record-high-in-2020-biden-administration-must-prioritize-rebuilding-domestic-manufacturing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">3.7 million<\/a>&nbsp;American jobs from the economy \u2014 2.8 million of which were lost in American manufacturing. During that same period, at least 50,000 American manufacturing plants closed down.<\/p>\n<p>The total U.S. goods trade deficit in 2020 hit a record&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epi.org\/blog\/u-s-trade-deficit-hits-record-high-in-2020-biden-administration-must-prioritize-rebuilding-domestic-manufacturing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">$915.8 billion<\/a>. Research&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epi.org\/publication\/growing-china-trade-deficits-costs-us-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">shows<\/a>&nbsp;that every $1 billion in imports from a foreign country to the U.S. leads to American job losses. Meanwhile,&nbsp;American manufacturing remains vital to the U.S. economy, as every one manufacturing job&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KeepitMadeinUSA\/status\/1088157044136427520\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">supports<\/a>&nbsp;an additional 7.4 American jobs in other industries.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
