Seemingly in response to a spate of negative media coverage resulting from this news, Baldwin posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CYeSblzvrbw\/\">rambling video<\/a> to Instagram Saturday in which he insisted he is cooperating with authorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny suggestion that I am not complying with requests or orders or demands or search warrants about my phone, that\u2019s bulls***, that\u2019s a lie,\u201d the actor said in the nearly 5-minute video he recorded in his car and then posted to the social media platform.<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin then claimed his delay in turning over his phone is the result of bureaucratic red tape, saying, \u201cThis is a process where one state makes the request of another state. Someone from another state can\u2019t come to you and say, \u2018Give me your phone. Give me this, give me that.\u2019 They can\u2019t do that. They have to go through the state you live in. That is a process that takes time, they have to specify what exactly they want. They can\u2019t just go through your phone and take your photos or your love letters to your wife, or what have you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cWe are one thousand percent going to comply with all that. We\u2019re perfectly fine with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin then directly criticized the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/07\/lawyers-explain-why-alec-baldwin-wont-hand-over-his-phone\/\">New York Post<\/a>, which published a story Friday that included expert opinion that Baldwin\u2019s reluctance to turn over his phone could indicate that it contains potentially incriminating evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The Post reported that investigators believe Baldwin\u2019s phone contains key information, but that he has so far failed to relinquish it, despite authorities issuing a warrant for the device.<\/p>\n<p>The story went on:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere could be incriminating evidence on the phone, or it might be for privacy reasons,\u201d said Kevin Kearon, a former Nassau District Attorney\u2019s Office who\u2019s now a criminal defense lawyer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf he deleted text messages or call records then he would face the possibility of criminal contempt,\u201d said Kearon, who works at the Long Island firm Barket Epstein Kearon. \u201cOr if there are personal messages, for example, between he and his wife, it\u2019s not shocking that he wouldn\u2019t want them in the public domain \u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Kearon&nbsp;said the move flies in the face of the actor\u2019s previous vow to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/10\/22\/alec-baldwin-comments-on-halyna-hutchins-shooting\/\">fully cooperate with police<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s not consistent with his pledge early on to cooperate with law enforcement,\u201d he said. \u201cIt certainly looks suspicious to the average person.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Post\u2019s reporting, Baldwin said, \u201cConsider the source \u2026 Sidney Poitier, one of the icons of the business, one of the kings of movie royalty dies, and on the cover of the Post they have other lies and bulls*** and nonsense,\u201d he fumed.<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin finished, \u201cIt\u2019s all going to work out, regardless of what they say in these right-wing rag sheets, and people who are all about hate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
