No word from CTU leadership about repercussions for going in.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to the Fox article, the Chicago Military Academy is a branch of the Chicago Public Schools system.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/education\/2022\/01\/06\/chicago-mayor-lori-lightfoot-accuses-teachers-union-of-holding-students-hostage\/\">said<\/a> Wednesday the Chicago Teacher\u2019s Union (CTU) was holding students \u201chostage\u201d in refusing to let teachers go to work Thursday for in-person learning with claims of fears of the spread of coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will not allow [the Chicago Teachers Union] to take our children hostage,\u201d Lightfoot stated during a news conference, according to Fox. \u201cI will not allow them to compromise the future of this generation of CPS students. That is not going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parents recently spoke out regarding their frustration with remote learning as many were forced to stay home from work, CBS Evening News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tNkNBY-f9gg\">reported<\/a> Saturday:<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Forgue explained he was tracking individuals who showed up to work to watch participation of the \u201cremote action\u201d at his school, adding that only one union member was not taking part in the strike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to keep track of participation. The union\u2019s power to bargain for safe work &amp; learning conditions comes from its members standing together.
