He denied he said the alleged quote.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/trumps-false-claims-debunked-2020-election-jan-6-riot-2022-01-06\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repeatedly<\/a> claimed there was widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, an allegation that has been widely <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-michael-pence-electoral-college-elections-health-2d9bd47a8bd3561682ac46c6b3873a10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">debunked<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/factcheck\/2022\/01\/06\/fact-check-donald-trump-2020-election-results\/9115875002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fact-checkers<\/a>. An image shared on Facebook claims Gowdy, who is now the host of Fox News\u2019 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/shows\/sunday-night-in-america-with-trey-gowdy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sunday Night In America With Trey Gowdy<\/a><em>\u201c<\/em> also sounded the alarm on the election.<\/p>\n<p>The image shows a picture of Gowdy along with an alleged quote of his that reads, \u201cWe are not talking about fraudulent voting acts. What we are talking about is TREASON! When you coordinate six to ten states, using cyber warfare to change the outcome, these are TREASONOUS acts.\u201d<strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/07\/28\/fact-check-georgia-absentee-ballots-registered-voters-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Georgia Send Out 7 Million Absentee Ballots While Only Having 5.6 Million Registered Voters In The 2020 Presidential Election?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In reality, there is no evidence Gowdy made this statement or ever suggested the 2020 presidential election was rigged. No such allegation appears in any of his verified <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=election%20(from%3ATGowdySC)&amp;src=typed_query&amp;f=live\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100044380087842\/search?q=election&amp;filters=eyJycF9jaHJvbm9fc29ydDowIjoie1wibmFtZVwiOlwiY2hyb25vc29ydFwiLFwiYXJnc1wiOlwiXCJ9In0%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posts<\/a> and Check Your Fact could not locate a single credible news report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=trey+gowdy+2020+election&amp;oq=Trey+Gowdy&amp;aqs=chrome.0.69i59j46i433i512j0i512l4j69i61l2.4898j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online<\/a> of him making a comment to that effect. The former congressman contended during a Nov. 10, 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/radio.foxnews.com\/2020\/11\/10\/the-right-change-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">installment<\/a> of his podcast that the responsibility for proving voter fraud fell on those claiming it took place, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2020-election-voter-fraud-trey-gowdy-podcast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never said it or anything even remotely akin thereto,\u201d said Gowdy in an email to Check Your Fact when asked about the alleged quote. \u201cThose words have never been uttered, written or even thought by me.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An image shared on Facebook claims former South Carolina Rep.
