(DIBYANGSHU SARKAR\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>In mid-December, the Missionaries of Charity were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2021\/12\/16\/india-mother-teresa-charity-accused-of-forced-conversion\/\">investigated<\/a> for allegedly proselytizing Hindus, a crime under India\u2019s \u201cFreedom of Religion\u201d laws in many parts of the country. A police report in the Makarpura district of Vadodara, Gujarat, said that the sisters had \u201clured\u201d girls staying at the temporary shelter \u201cto adopt Christianity by making them wear the cross around their neck and also placing the Bible on the table of the storeroom used by the girls, in order to compel them to read the Bible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an attempted crime to force religious conversion upon the girls,\u201d said Mayank Trivedi, a local District Social Defense officer who filed a complaint accusing the Missionaries of Charity of having \u201cforced a Hindu girl to marry a Christian man according to Christian rituals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On January 3, India\u2019s Defense Department <a href=\"https:\/\/cruxnow.com\/church-in-asia\/2022\/01\/missionaries-of-charity-evicted-from-property-in-northern-india\">evicted<\/a> a group of Missionaries of Charity from a children\u2019s home in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
