There\u2019s just one problem \u2014 the anti-congestion tunnel promptly became congested with traffic.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Daily Mail&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-10379077\/Traffic-jams-build-Elon-Musks-Vegas-Loop-tunnels-shuttling-CES-attendees.html\">reports<\/a>&nbsp;that Elon Musk\u2019s Boring Company unveiled its Las Vegas Convention Center Loop tunnel this week at CES 2022. The tunnel was quickly labeled a \u201cdeath trap\u201d after footage from inside the tunnel showed a traffic jam in an enclosed space with no emergency exits visible \u2014 although the Boring Company claims the tunnel has multiple exits.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_9867387\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Elon-Musk-Boring-Company.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9867387\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Elon-Musk-Boring-Company.jpg\" alt=\"Elon Musk Boring Company\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Elon Musk Boring Company (Pool\/Getty)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Footage showed a passenger in the back seat of a Tesla driving through the white tunnel before coming to a standstill behind other vehicles. Many users online quickly noted that the situation seemed unsafe, with one noting: \u201cif a car catches fire, people will die.\u201d Another Reddit user commented: \u201cOk eh\u2026. what happens if there\u2019s a crash and a fire? How will people get out? This is a death trap and a disaster waiting to happen. Especially with Tesla battery fires\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It turns out the congestion-busting \u201cfuture of transport\u201d is already experiencing congestion. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yJY9b0Nwjj\">pic.twitter.com\/yJY9b0Nwjj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Adam Tranter (@adamtranter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/adamtranter\/status\/1479149037253238790?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 6, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Boring Company has claimed that multiple safety protocols exist, including a redundant, bidirectional ventilation system to disperse smoke in the event of a fire. The convention center loop was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/01\/11\/elon-musks-las-vegas-tunnel-project-has-turned-into-a-1-mile-tesla-track\/\">unveiled<\/a> in April 2021 and sits 40 feet beneath the ground. It cost $52.5 million to complete.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Elon Musk\u2019s company plans to construct a 29-milelong tunnel system with 51 stations running from various casinos and venues along the Las Vegas Strip.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11285867\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Las-Vegas-Sign-AP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11285867\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Las-Vegas-Sign-AP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Las Vegas Sign (AP)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>So far, the tunnel does not appear to be impressing those that use it. In the video posted by Benjamin Brochstein, who is attending the CES conference, the driver states that the congestion in the tunnel is likely due to one of the three stations being closed. Drivers are instructed that they cannot cruise more than 40 miles per hour in the tunnel, but when Brochstein was at the event his Tesla was only driving at around four miles per hour.<\/p>\n<p>When Musk first unveiled the plans for the Loop in 2016, it was advertised as a form of high-speed travel for passengers aiming to avoid ground traffic in Vegas. Since then, many have noted that the tunnel has not been faster and is in fact quite boring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Tech website&nbsp;<a class href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/elon-musks-public-transit-in-las-vegas-still-just-human-1846648723?utm_source=digg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gizmodo<\/a>&nbsp;wrote at the time: \u201cElon Musk\u2019s \u2018Public Transit\u2019 in Las Vegas Still Just Humans Driving Cars Slowly in a Tunnel,\u201d while tech and motoring site&nbsp;<a class href=\"https:\/\/jalopnik.com\/move-over-keno-elon-musks-dumb-tesla-tunnel-now-the-l-1846654974\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">Jalopnik<\/a>&nbsp;wrote: \u201cElon Musk\u2019s Dumb Tesla Tunnel Now The Lamest Thing In Las Vegas!\u201d Jalopnik writer&nbsp;Jason Torchinsky wrote: \u201cIt\u2019s about as exciting as a sheet of unpainted drywall discarded in a closed office park. It\u2019s just some Tesla Model 3s driving slowly in a tube. All this really is are some Teslas driving in tunnels lined with LED lights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Musk himself actually appeared to agree with this characterization, writing: \u201cWe simplified this a lot.
