For example, they seek to \u201c<strong>deconstruct the falsehood that weight equates to health<\/strong>, including ending the use of BMI.\u201d [Emphasis added].<\/p>\n<p>The group, which advocates for \u201cdismantling dominant, exploitative systems in the United States, which are largely reliant on anti-Black racism, colonialism, cisheteropatriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism,\u201d also blame \u201csystemic oppression\u201d for ailments like hypertension:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Black people in the U.S. have higher rates of hypertension, not due to inherent vulnerability or personal behavior, but because of systemic oppression. The persistent erasure of this reality serves multiple purposes: 1) It avoids naming and identifying anti-Black racism as a cause of disease, 2) it is a mechanism used by governing systems and healthcare providers to absolve themselves from addressing the systemic causes of disease, and 3) it allows continued profiteering off of the oppression of Black and brown people.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u201cprofessionalization of the medical field,\u201d they contend, has been part of the \u201cviolence [used] to oust women and femme healers \u2026 particularly Black women.\u201d The group then appears to chide medical education and expertise as part of the oppressive system, saying \u201ctransitioning from a <strong>trade field<\/strong> to a profession where trainees have to attend a medical school,\u201d has been a major barrier to entry. (Photo by Mark RALSTON \/ AFP) (Photo by MARK RALSTON\/AFP via Getty Images)\" width=\"640\" height=\"462\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">(MARK RALSTON\/AFP via Getty Images).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Columbia University\u2019s&nbsp;Vagelos&nbsp;College of Physicians &amp; Surgeons \u201cAnti-Racism Task Force\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vagelos.columbia.edu\/education\/academic-programs\/md-program\/about-md-program\/anti-racism-resources\">cites<\/a> WC4BL as a major contributor in their \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vagelos.columbia.edu\/file\/40362\/download?token=dvW-Ob4b\">Action Plan for Anti-Racism in Medical Education<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Columbia\u2019s plan calls specifically for \u201can intersectional framework that incorporates critical race theory,\u201d and \u201cfaculty development \u2026 by individuals grounded in critical race theory.\u201d They also plan to \u201creassess the utilization\u201d of \u201ctest scores and grade point averages in admissions decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;The dean of Pitt\u2019s School of Medicine agreed on Thursday to comply with a litany of wide-ranging&nbsp;demands&nbsp;from Black students, after multiple meetings and more than 400&nbsp;petition&nbsp;signatures.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/actionsspeaklouder?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#actionsspeaklouder<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/L7yElGI2nc\">https:\/\/t.co\/L7yElGI2nc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 #wc4bl (@natlwc4bl) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/natlwc4bl\/status\/1274350389236727811?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 20, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) also cites WC4BL as inspiration for its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aamc.org\/media\/50581\/download\">Creating Action to Eliminate Racism in Medical Education<\/a>\u201d guide.<\/p>\n<p>The guide, which is riddled with citations of prominent critical race theory purveyor Ibram x. (Screenshot via aamc.org).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine also <a href=\"https:\/\/meded.ucsf.edu\/student-services\/diversity-equity-and-inclusion-programs\">cites<\/a> WC4BL as part of its \u201cactive community of cultural registered campus organizations,\u201d and boasts that \u201csince 2015, communication and racial bias has been incorporated into new student orientation as students first set foot on campus at the beginning of their medical school careers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring this orientation,\u201d the diversity, inclusion, and equity page continues, \u201cstudents discuss microagressions, unconscious bias and what&nbsp;diversity, equity and inclusion mean&nbsp;as future physicians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many other medical schools have capitulated to the demands of WC4BL.<\/p>\n<p>The radicalization of medicine does not only exist at medical schools. As Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/20\/exclusive-cancer-treatment-association-member-blasts-woke-political-nonsense-in-aapm-invading-medical-world\/\">reported<\/a>, it has seeped into professional cancer treatment as well.<\/p>\n<p><em>Breccan F.
