For President Joe Biden, it&#8217;s the fourth dismal jobs report he&#8217;s received in recent months.<\/p>\n<p>Employment rose by just 199,000 jobs in December, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> found, less than half of the 422,000 jobs that economists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/01\/06\/december-jobs-report-expected-to-be-strong-with-no-impact-yet-from-omicron.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">projected<\/a> the country would gain.<\/p>\n<p>December saw the fewest jobs created of any month in 2021. The month&#8217;s jobs report is particularly gloomy considering the Labor Department collected its data midway through December, before the Omicron COVID-19 variant swept the country and disrupted the economy.<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s report marks the fourth time in the last five months that the economy has fallen short of expectations for job creation. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/09\/03\/jobs-report-august-2021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/biden-posts-worst-jobs-report-since-2020\/\">September<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/november-jobs-report-falls-far-short-of-projections\/\">November<\/a>, employment increased far less than projected.<\/p>\n<p>The run of disappointing jobs reports will do little to improve the poor public perception of Biden&#8217;s handling of the economy. A CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/01\/04\/cnbc-and-change-research-the-biden-economy-poll-president-biden-receives-low-rating-among-voters-as-his-presidency-approaches-its-one-year-mark.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a> this week found that a 60-percent majority disapproves of Biden&#8217;s economic performance, and an October poll <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/poll-62-percent-of-registered-voters-blame-biden-for-inflation\/\">showed<\/a>&nbsp;that most voters blame Biden for rising inflation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The economy added far fewer jobs last month than economists projected, according to a Friday Labor Department report.
