Chief author Robert Pape <a href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2022\/01\/06\/trump-capitol-insurrection-january-6-insurrectionists-great-replacement-white-nationalism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">described<\/a> the results in&nbsp;ForeignPolicy.com:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Our national survey shows that the No. 1 belief among insurrectionists\u2014shared by fully 75 percent of respondents\u2014is the \u201cgreat replacement\u201d of the electorate by the Democratic Party and that this idea is also the most important separator of people in the 21 million [riot sympathizers] from the general population.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The study is a useful effort by social scientists to study the participants at the riot. (FBI image)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>But it also suggests that the rioters\u2019 were motivated by a racially-influenced reaction to migration:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Given the overwhelming whiteness of the population of insurrectionists, the finding that counties with higher rates of demographic change are also counties that sent more insurrectionists \u2026 <strong>is consistent with<\/strong>&nbsp;[emphasis added] a political movement that is <strong>partially driven<\/strong>&nbsp;[emphasis added] by racial cleavages and white discontent with diversifying communities.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However,&nbsp;many&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/immigration-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polls show<\/a>&nbsp;that opposition to government-directed migration is driven by economics, not race.<\/p>\n<p>Polls show most Americans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/u-s-immigration-policy-opinion-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">want to like individual immigrants and immigration-in-general<\/a>&nbsp;but strongly oppose labor migration.<\/p>\n<p>A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/03\/30\/harvard-harris-poll-5-in-6-americans-want-to-end-immigration-from-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wide<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/01\/14\/poll-americans-want-companies-hire-americans-before-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">variety<\/a>&nbsp;of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/04\/13\/ipsos-poll-nearly-8-in-10-americans-want-immigration-moratorium-for-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polls<\/a>&nbsp;do&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/08\/05\/poll-swing-voters-hugely-oppose-2020-democrats-promising-more-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">show<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2020\/04\/24\/poll-trumps-opponents-applaud-his-jobs-for-americans-immigration-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deep<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2017\/01\/31\/poll-shows-public-support-trump-migration-poicy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broad<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2020\/05\/28\/business-poll-backfires-shows-public-wants-less-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opposition<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/11\/16\/exit-polls-3-in-4-voters-want-less-immigration-during-and-after-pandemic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blue-collar labor migration<\/a>&nbsp;and the inflow of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2020\/08\/06\/ipsos-poll-public-opposes-migrant-workers-by-21\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">temporary<\/a>&nbsp;contract workers&nbsp;into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/01\/05\/gop-legislators-help-indias-visa-workers-to-take-jobs-from-u-s-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">white-collar jobs<\/a> sought by young U.S. graduates. target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multiracial<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2020\/07\/11\/poll-suburban-women-strongly-back-donald-trumps-migration-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cross-sex<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/09\/24\/survey-hispanic-americans-most-opposed-to-illegal-immigration-defunding-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">non-racist<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2018\/04\/27\/study-black-working-class-opposes-mass-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">class-based<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/02\/22\/poll-democrat-sex-split-visa-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bipartisan<\/a>, <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USTechWorkers\/status\/1377363222005575680?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rational<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/05\/11\/harvard-poll-swing-voters-want-biden-to-embrace-trumps-border-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">persistent<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/01\/22\/rasmussen-poll-liberals-and-wealthy-welcome-caravan-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recognizes<\/a>&nbsp;the solidarity that Americans owe to each other.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the left-wing Equis Research group reported on December 13 that 45 percent of Latinos want to reduce legal immigration:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" blame for conflict over migration by suggesting the public concern is merely \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2022\/01\/06\/trump-capitol-insurrection-january-6-insurrectionists-great-replacement-white-nationalism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conspiracy theory<\/a>\u201c:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Many [of the 716 arrestees] were middle-class professionals motivated by the \u201cgreat replacement\u201d conspiracy theory \u2026&nbsp;the central idea is that majority white populations are being replaced by minorities and that liberal leaders are deliberately engineering white demographic decline through immigration policy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cGovernment policy is changing the population,\u201d responded Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies.<\/p>\n<p>Conspiracy theorists may claim government leaders met \u201cin a secret lair in the Alps and planned that out,\u201d he laughed, \u201cbut the fact that policy is engineering these [demographic] developments is not conspiracy \u2014 it\u2019s just a description of reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, for example, the federal government allowed or invited roughly 1.5 million migrants \u2014 or almost one migrant for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/nvss\/births.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">every two American births<\/a> in 2020.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\"
