The \u2018One China\u2019 policy demands that nations do not acknowledge Taiwan as an independent entity and instead treat it as an extension of China.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">China Downgrades Diplomatic Ties with Lithuania Over Taiwan Embassy Row <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kwhrtlJFFQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/kwhrtlJFFQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1462430599768162307?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 21, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>China has also been accused of blocking Lithuania exports to China by the European Union in retaliation, following their \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/21\/china-downgrades-diplomatic-ties-with-lithuania-over-taiwan-embassy-row\/\">downgrading<\/a>\u201d of diplomatic ties.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to German paper <em>Die Welt<\/em>&nbsp;the European Commission for Trade\u2019s vice-president&nbsp;Valdis Dombrovskis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welt.de\/wirtschaft\/article235849914\/China-Warum-deutsche-Firmen-unter-der-Blockade-gegen-Litauen-leiden.html?icid=search.product.onsitesearch\">confirmed<\/a> that they believe \u201cimports from Lithuania are no longer processed by Chinese customs\u201d.&nbsp;Dombrovskis also said that this affects the entire European Union as \u201capparently, the Chinese customs also do not clear goods from other EU countries if they contain parts that come from Lithuania\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Dombrovskis also warned that the number of blocked European goods in Chinese ports was \u201cincreasing every day\u201d, and as a result the EU is \u201ccollecting evidence\u201d to \u201ctake action against China before the WTO [World Trade Organisation], should it be necessary\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Zhao Lijian,<b>&nbsp;<\/b>China\u2019s Foreign Ministry\u2019s spokesperson has however <a href=\"http:\/\/www.china-embassy.org\/eng\/lcbt\/wjbfyrbt\/202112\/t20211222_10474336.htm\">dismissed<\/a> these allegations and branded them as the West making \u201cgroundless accusations against China\u201d. Lijian asserted that Lithuania bore the \u201csole responsibility for the severe difficulties in China-Lithuania relations\u201d and that if Lithuanian companies wanted to resolve any issues they had exporting to China they should \u201creport to competent Chinese authorities through normal channels\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The escalation of the situation prompted Lithuanian President&nbsp;Gitanas Nauseda to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/2022\/01\/04\/opening-a-taiwan-representative-office-was-mistake-says-lithuanian-president\">call<\/a> the opening of the embassy a \u201cmistake\u201d, and he claims the approval of the Taiwan name was not \u201ccoordinated\u201d with him.&nbsp;Nauseda also blamed the embassy\u2019s name as \u201cthe key factor that now strongly affects our relations with China\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I disagree with my President <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GitanasNauseda?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GitanasNauseda<\/a>. Domestic disputes shall not change the consistent <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">LT [Lithuanian]<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">&nbsp;foreign policy: our security depends upon <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">solidarity<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">, engagement of partners and protecting d<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">emocracy\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">\u0160akalien\u0117 has additionally&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/08\/13\/exclusive-lithuania-will-not-back-down-as-china-hints-at-war-says-mp\/\">said<\/a> that she feels a connection with Taiwan as both Lithuania and Taiwan have experienced the horrors of communism and are&nbsp;currently bordered with&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">\u201cbloody authoritarian regimes\u201d \u2013 that being China and Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Other European nations have also weighed in on the Taiwan debate with <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Pavel Novotny, mayor of a district in Prague, denouncing the Chinese Foreign Ministry as a gang of \u201cunmannered rude clowns\u201d, after China attempted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2020\/09\/01\/czech-mayor-chides-rude-clowns-china-calls-taiwan-threat-diplomatic-fck-up\/\">intimidate<\/a> the Czech Republic following a 90-person Czech delegation visit to Taiwan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">The United States\u2019s&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Secretary of State Antony J.
