Adam Schiff (D-CA) said that Robert Mueller\u2019s report on former President Donald Trump\u2019s alleged collusion with Russia failed to turn public opinion against Trump because Congress did not hold enough public hearings about it.<\/p>\n<p>MSNBC\u2019s Stephanie Ruhle told Rep. Schiff that his work on the January 6 commission \u201cjust takes me back to the definitive Mueller report that was filled with so many things that didn\u2019t actually resonate or make their way to the American people. Why do you think it will be different?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schiff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/now\/rep-schiff-says-jan-6-191128104.html\">replied<\/a>, \u201cThe Mueller report didn\u2019t change many attitudes, because it really wasn\u2019t brought to life through public hearings. I think that was one of the failings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Hollywood actors literally brought the report to life in a 10-act play that featured them reading Mueller\u2019s transcripts: John Lithgow played President Trump on stage, alongside Annette Bening, Alfre Woodard, Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Kline, Joel Grey, and Ben McKenzie. \u201cIf you still can\u2019t get enough or if you haven\u2019t finished your own copy of the Mueller Report, well, you can head to Washington in the next few weeks for an 11-hour long reading of volume two. Also there are plans for a graphic novel,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/show\/nday\/date\/2019-06-25\/segment\/01\">reported<\/a> CNN\u2019s Alexandra Field.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Experts said the greatest problem with the Mueller report was that it failed to deliver evidence of collusion between the Trump-led Republican Party and Vladimir Putin\u2019s Russia. \u201cThe investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities,\u201d the report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/8-things-you-need-know-about-mueller-report-ben-shapiro\">concluded<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did have obviously two hearings with Bob Mueller himself,\u201d Schiff conceded on Thursday, \u201cbut what we really needed was I think to bring forward the actual witnesses to those events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Congressional hearings at which Robert Mueller appeared mentally inert and uninformed about the report, which was putatively his own work, did not help the prosecution\u2019s case. President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-mocks-democrats-over-disastrous-mueller-ryan-saavedra\">thanked the Democrats<\/a> for holding the spectacle publicly. Obama aide David Axelrod called Mueller\u2019s performance \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/very-painful-democrats-left-wing-media-implode-ryan-saavedra\">very, very painful<\/a>,\u201d adding that the special counsel \u201cdoes not appear as sharp as he was.\u201d As Daily Wire\u2019s Ryan Saavedra <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/very-painful-democrats-left-wing-media-implode-ryan-saavedra\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Leftist Harvard Law School professor Laurence Tribe tweeted: \u201cMuch as I hate to say it, this morning\u2019s hearing was a disaster. Far from breathing life into his damning report, the tired Robert Mueller sucked the life out of it. The effort to save democracy and the rule of law from this lawless president has been set back, not advanced.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>MSNBC\u2019s Jeremy Bash complained that Mueller \u201csucked the life out\u201d of the Russia report and seriously \u201cset back\u201d efforts to hold Trump \u201caccountable\u201d \u2014 meaning impeachment.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Bash added that Mueller was \u201cevasive,\u201d \u201clost at times,\u201d and was \u201cvery ineffective\u201d at defending \u201chis own work.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Schiff, who led the charge to tie former President Trump to the Kremlin, is now a member of the congressional committee investigating the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.&nbsp;Ruhle interrupted Schiff\u2019s remarks, which occurred after President Joe Biden\u2019s speech about the riot last January 6, to return to Biden speaking with a gaggle of reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did not want to turn it into a contemporary political battle between me and the president,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cspan\/status\/1479123344947617795\">said<\/a> the president.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Q: &#8220;Why didn&#8217;t you mention President Trump by name?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>President Biden: &#8220;I did not want to turn it into a contemporary political battle between me and the president. It&#8217;s way beyond that.
