As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2022\/01\/05\/world\/omicron-covid-vaccine-tests#cdc-fully-vaccinated-boosters\">The New York Times<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<p><em>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday said it was not changing its definition of \u201cfull vaccination\u201d against the coronavirus. But the agency changed its emphasis on the appropriate regimen,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/stay-up-to-date.html\">tweaking how it referred to the shots<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The agency said that three doses of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna\u2019s vaccines should be considered \u201cup-to-date\u201d inoculations, and that Johnson &amp; Johnson recipients should receive a second dose, preferably of Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech, to also be considered up to date.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The move amounted to a recommendation from federal health officials that Americans should change how they talk about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/12\/29\/health\/covid-vaccinations-boosters.html\">vaccination<\/a>&nbsp;schedules.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2022\/01\/05\/world\/omicron-covid-vaccine-tests\/pfizer-boosters-children-12-15-cdc\">People 12 years and older<\/a>&nbsp;are eligible for boosters.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell CDC just did it, as I predicted. They changed their language from \u2018Get a booster\u2019 to \u2018Are you up to date?\u2019 This manipulation [of] words implies that low-risk people without a booster are out-of-date. Also sets the stage for [frequent] boosters,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MartyMakary\/status\/1479112157019009033\">tweeted<\/a> Dr. Marty Makary of Johns Hopkins University. \u201cCovid vaccinations are not software.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Nicole Saphier, director of breast imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Monmouth, New Jersey, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NBSaphierMD\/status\/1479117583110447117\">stated<\/a>: \u201cThe CDC changing verbiage from \u2018fully vaccinated\u2019 to \u2018up to date\u2019 is a manipulation of words to influence behavior while failing to admit immunity\/protection are not binary. There will be consequences of heedless measures using selective data. It\u2019s upsetting to witness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Makary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/johns-hopkins-surgeon-definition-of-fully-vaccinated-changing-big-pharma-may-be-calling-the-shots\">told<\/a> The Daily Wire in December that he believed the CDC would shift from recommending people be \u201cfully vaccinated\u201d to stay \u201cup to date\u201d on shots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think they\u2019re going to do it. I think they\u2019re going to change the definition\u201d Makary said. \u201cNow, for a senior person, that may make sense [for] someone over 65 if you have not had COVID in the past. That is, people over 65, if they\u2019ve not had COVID, I do recommend they get a third dose.&nbsp;But for younger folks, there\u2019s no evidence to support getting a booster dose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the time, the Johns Hopkins surgeon said he feared that pharmaceutical companies \u201cmay be calling the shots right now,\u201d not the CDC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve not only convinced the CDC to make a vigorous recommendation for every 16 and 17-year-old to get boosted, but colleges are now drawing up plans to require a booster among students,\u201d Makary said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing is more insane and anti-science than requiring young, low-risk, healthy students who had COVID already to get a booster shot, and there will be unintended harm from that indiscriminate booster recommendation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC\u2019s current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/stay-up-to-date.html\">guidance<\/a> now \u201crecommends booster shots at 5 months after the completion of the primary series of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for those aged 12 and older.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
