How many children in the world are waiting for someone to take care of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/world\/2022\/01\/05\/pope-francis-criticizes-people-who-have-dogs-cats-instead-children\/9108139002\/\">According<\/a> to USA Today, the pope then praised parents who adopt children, calling for such procedures to be simplified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In today\u2019s culture, though, \u201cwe see a form of selfishness,\u201d the pope continued, adding that some \u201cdo not want to have children, or just one and no more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cAnd many, many couples do not have children because they do not want to, or they have just one \u2013 but they have two dogs, two cats\u2026 Yes, dogs and cats take the place of children,\u201d Pope Francis said. \u201cYes, it\u2019s funny, I understand, but it is the reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cThis denial of fatherhood or motherhood diminishes us, it takes away our humanity,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd in this way civilization becomes aged and without humanity, because it loses the richness of fatherhood and motherhood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2014, Pope Francis said a society valuing pets more than children is a&nbsp;\u201csign of cultural degeneration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-axufdj evys1bk0\">\u201cThat\u2019s because an emotional relationship with animals is easier, more programmable,\u201d the pope said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/01\/06\/world\/europe\/pope-pets-kids.html\">according<\/a> to The New York Times. \u201cHaving a child is something complex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pope, generally well-liked by progressives, has routinely irritated the Left with his comments about abortion. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pope-francis-abortion-is-homicide-catholic-churchs-position-will-not-change-to-accept-daily-murder\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported in September:<\/p>\n<p><em>Pope Francis spoke on the topic of abortion and Catholic politicians who publicly support the barbaric practice during a flight back to Rome from Slovakia, telling reporters that the Catholic Church has no plans to change its teachings on abortion, but that Catholic leaders should seek to counsel abortion-supporting politicians privately before taking the extreme step of excommunicating them from the Church.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnswering questions aboard the papal plane from Bratislava, Slovakia, to Rome on Sept. 15, the pope emphatically said that abortion ends a human life and that human life must be respected,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/248992\/pope-francis-tackles-debate-over-communion-for-politicians-who-support-abortion?utm_campaign=Breaking&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;_hsmi=159859769&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-8nPuWRtx62UcqlPNLiyY2lnrhVRDS0b3mDTdwGJbQZJQu0jKuS6E1carBidi3tzjQr4xW5CyemuFsrr_QL2Jkwdk7_XQ&amp;utm_content=159859769&amp;utm_source=hs_email\">EWTN News reported<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAbortion is more than an issue. Abortion is homicide,\u201d Pope Francis said, definitively. \u201cIt\u2019s a homicide. No middle terms. Whomever does an abortion, kills.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>At the time, the pope added that the Church \u201cwill remain strict on the issue, despite Catholic politicians like President Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who claim that their conscience leads them to support \u2018reproductive rights\u2019 and publicly support not just the right to obtain an abortion, but take affirmative action to protect abortion as a practice,\u201d The Daily Wire added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScientifically it\u2019s a human life. The textbooks teach us that. But is it right to take it out to solve a problem? And this is why the Church is so strict on this issue because it is kind of like accepting this is accepting daily murder,\u201d the pope said.<\/p>\n<p>The theology of abortion is \u201csimple,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe problem is pastoral, how do we, as bishops, manage this principle,\u201d he continued. \u201cIf we look at the history of the Church, we will see that every time the bishops acted not as pastors in a problem, they became politicians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd what should the pastor do? He shouldn\u2019t go around condemning. And he must also be a pastor with those who are excommunicated and be so with God\u2019s style, which is closeness, compassion and tenderness,\u201d Pope Francis added. \u201cThose people who are not in the community cannot take communion, because they are out of the community.
