A majority of both Democrats and Republicans said that the country is in a state of decay.<\/p>\n<p>The poll comes as Americans&#8217; trust in government remains at record lows. Just 39 percent of U.S. citizens approve of the federal government&#8217;s handling of international and domestic issues, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/355124\/americans-trust-government-remains-low.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a> a September 2021 Gallup poll. President Joe Biden is also facing plummeting approval numbers\u2014just 43 percent of Americans approve of his job performance, according to the <em>RealClearPolitics<\/em> polling average, down 13 points since January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats had the highest percentage of respondents say America is on the ascent, and nearly a quarter said they were unsure. Republicans had the highest number of respondents\u201486 percent\u2014say the nation is on the decline.<\/p>\n<p>The Trafalgar Group partnered with the Convention of States Action to conduct the poll.
