It does show that the curation of her reputation was an area where she had effectively invaded her own privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Duchess of Sussex has however declared victory saying after the ruling last month: \u201cThis is a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what\u2019s right\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Woke Leftists Meghan Markle and Harry&#8217;s team reportedly told the BBC to make sure panels discussing their Oprah interview were not just &#8220;old white men&#8221;. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LPafQ0Zhbs\">https:\/\/t.co\/LPafQ0Zhbs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1370753613769928721?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>After their initial loss, the courts also ordered&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>Mail on Sunday<\/em> and&nbsp;<em>Mail Online<\/em> to publish declarations they lost the case on their front page The outlets did this on Boxing Day 2021, one of the quietest days of the year for news.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Mail on Sunday <\/em>printed a small&nbsp;statement along the bottom of the front page that said: \u2018The Duchess of Sussex wins her legal case for copyright infringement against Associated Newspapers for articles published in <em>The Mail on Sunday<\/em> and posted on <em>Mail Online<\/em> \u2013 SEE PAGE 3\u2032 and the <em>Mail Online\u2019s<\/em> website&nbsp;posted a similar message.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally to the \u00a31 settlement and legal fees, ANL has agreed to pay Ms Markle a confidential sum to avoid going to court over infringing her copyright when they published the letters.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Meghan Markle&#8217;s suffering and victimization knows no bounds. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ee8zjsq2Xj\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ee8zjsq2Xj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1405155100390215683?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 16, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On the 3rd of December 2021, a day after&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>Mail on Sunday<\/em> lost its court appeal against Markle, the British government&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/boris-johnson-defends-press-freedom-after-meghan-wins-privacy-case-agains-the-mail-on-sunday-2tz6nzbh6\">insisted<\/a> that a \u201cfree press is one of the cornerstones of any democracy\u201d and promised to \u201ccarefully\u201d study the \u201cimplications and judgement\u201d of the case.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the outcome of the case, ANL have said: \u201cWe are very disappointed by the decision of the Court of Appeal.
