Companies may only import Xinjiang-made or grown products into America if they show proof that slaves were not involved in the development of those products. While a step forward for the anti-slavery cause, Congress passed the law nearly two years after the publication of an extensive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2020\/03\/02\/study-nike-apple-bmw-among-83-brands-using-chinese-muslim-slave-labor\/\">report<\/a> detailing how the Chinese government used business incentives to sell and bus Uyghur slaves to nearly every major factory in China. Goods produced in regions outside of Xinjiang are exempt from Uyghur Forced Labor Act limitations.<\/p>\n<p>Xinjiang, known by its inhabitants as East Turkistan, is an occupied region on China\u2019s western border. The Chinese Communist Party has imprisoned as many as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2019\/05\/06\/feds-china-muslim-crackdown-number-detainees-may-have-tripled-less-than-1-year\/\">3 million<\/a> ethnic minority people, the vast majority of them Uyghurs, in concentration camps there. Survivors say they endured horrific abuse including torture, gang rape, forced sterilization, indoctrination, and slavery.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19368010\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1192349154-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-19368010\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1192349154-1-683x1024-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Tesla CEO Elon Musk dances during the Tesla China-made Model 3 Delivery Ceremony in Shanghai.(STR\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tesla made no mention of any of these abuses in its <a href=\"https:\/\/weibo.com\/3615027564\/L9anVyQP5\">announcement<\/a> that it would open a showroom in Urumqi on Weibo, China\u2019s largest government-controlled social media outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the first Tesla center in Xinjiang, it will integrate sales, post-sale services, and delivery to help Xinjiang users enjoy a one-stop service experience and accompany Tesla owners on their western journey,\u201d the company announced on Weibo. Tesla also invited fans to enter a drawing to win \u201ccustom sunglasses\u201d and other company swag.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Global Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globaltimes.cn\/page\/202201\/1245103.shtml\">celebrated<\/a> on Tuesday that a Chinese company, Erke, announced it would conduct more business in the occupied region \u201cas more companies, including US electric carmaker Tesla, increase their presence in the region, shrugging off a US crackdown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn December 31, US carmaker Tesla opened its first showroom in Xinjiang. Tesla has built and opened seven super-charging stations and 36 super-charging piles in Xinjiang,\u201d the&nbsp;<em>Times<\/em> noted. \u201cIt is expected that more companies will invest in Xinjiang due to its abundant natural resources and industrial advantages, experts said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cexperts\u201d the propaganda outlet relied on were from its usual stable of government-approved commentators and praised East Turkistan as \u201ca promising land that has yet to be fully explored,\u201d presumably by the Han Chinese Communist Party and its business affiliates like Tesla.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>In a separate article on Tuesday, the&nbsp;<em>Global Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globaltimes.cn\/page\/202201\/1245090.shtml\">encouraged<\/a> the Party to ensure that East Turkistan was \u201cindispensable\u201d to all global business, making the price of not participating in the human rights atrocities occurring there too high for international companies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though it is crystal clear that the so-called \u2018forced labor\u2019 and \u2018genocide in Xinjiang\u2019 are sinister lies made up by American politicians and some Western media, it is regrettable that some companies easily fold to this political pressure,\u201d the&nbsp;<em>Times<\/em> claimed. \u201cWhat China needs to do is to boost Xinjiang\u2019s economic importance to the level that cannot be easily overlooked or abandoned by these businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_19368042\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1192349129.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-19368042\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1192349129-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"990\" height=\"660\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Tesla CEO Elon Musk (top L) looks at a new Tesla Model 3 car as a buyer receive his new car during the Tesla China-made Model 3 Delivery Ceremony in Shanghai. (STR\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Multiple extensive research studies have proven allegations of slavery in East Turkistan, contrary to the&nbsp;<em>Global Times<\/em>\u2018 claims. The Uyghur Tribunal, an independent research organization, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2021\/12\/09\/tribunal-olympics-host-china-beyond-a-reasonable-doubt-guilty-of-genocide\/\">published<\/a> an extensive ruling in December \u2013 including testimony from a large number of witnesses, including former Chinese regime agents \u2013 finding that China was \u201cbeyond a reasonable doubt\u201d guilty of genocide against the Uyghur people and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUS electric car giant Tesla last week opened an electric car showroom in Urumqi, capital city of Northwest China\u2019s Xinjiang Uygur [sic] Autonomous Region, a move that several Western media outlets claimed was slammed by anti-China forces in the U.S.,\u201d the Chinese state newspaper recalled. \u201cWhile it is encouraging to see a high-profile American company choose Xinjiang at a time when the West is vilifying the region with a litany of groundless lies, it is worth noting that Tesla\u2019s move was mostly motivated by commercial calculations.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cXinjiang\u2019s abundant electric power resources have made it an important producer of clean energy in China, and Tesla\u2019s new showroom in the region may also underline its great attractiveness in the development of the new-energy vehicle market,\u201d it claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Global Times<\/em> emphasized Tesla\u2019s founding in America despite Musk\u2019s background as a South African immigrant and his repeated statements denigrating American society while praising China. Among other comments, Musk has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/12\/23\/communist-bff-elon-musks-extensive-history-of-cozying-up-to-red-china\/\">dismissed<\/a> Americans as \u201ccomplacent\u201d compared to the \u201chard-working\u201d Chinese \u2013 he did not clarify if he mean the Han ethnic majority or the Uyghur slaves \u2013 and has claimed that the totalitarian Chinese Communist Party is \u201cmore sensitive to public opinion\u201d than freely elected American politicians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be totally frank, I\u2019ve seen some crazy&nbsp;things so, you know, I think it\u2019s, like \u2013 I really&nbsp;think China is the future,\u201d Musk declared at an event alongside now-disgraced Alibaba founder Jack Ma in 2019. (HECTOR RETAMAL\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>While eagerly praising the genocidal Chinese Communist Party, Musk and Tesla <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2021\/04\/20\/tesla-china-backlash\/\">endured<\/a> a difficult 2021 in China after the Chinese government allowed growing numbers of complaints to surface online \u2013 and at least one in-person protester \u2013 regarding the poor quality of Tesla vehicles. Tesla <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/07\/19\/tesla-asked-china-to-censor-admitted-business-failures\/\">attempted<\/a> to get the Communist Party to censor the criticism online; the protester was <a href=\"http:\/\/en.people.cn\/n3\/2021\/0422\/c90000-9842286.html\">arrested<\/a>.
