By highlighting inconsequential and ephemeral stories, and ignoring stories of national importance, the media act as the Left\u2019s propaganda service. The past year saw the media hype, spin, and emphasize numerous non-stories that fit their political agenda. Here are a few of the worst examples.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Most Overreported Stories of 2021<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>5) Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are <em>so<\/em> charming<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When a Republican is president, the media act like an opposition research house; when a Democrat is president, the media act like an uncompensated PR firm. Few things illustrate this better than fawning media coverage of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris\u2019 love of ice cream, tennis shoes, and furry creatures.<\/p>\n<p>The spirit of sycophancy began last year, with just days to go before the 2020 election, as a reporter yelled out <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tylerpager\/status\/1317931051877126144\">an urgent question<\/a> to the milkshake-wielding Democratic candidate: \u201cMr. Biden! Mr. Biden! What flavor did you get?!\u201d Little changed after the inauguration. Again as President Biden&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-reporters-fawn-over-bidens-choice-of-ice-cream-again-as-he-slams-opposition-to-jan-6-commission?%3Futm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=dwtwitter\">walked out<\/a>&nbsp;of Cleveland\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gohoneyhut.com\/\">Honey Hut Ice Cream<\/a> in late May 2021, a reporter&nbsp;asked, \u201cMr. President, what did you order?\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dcexaminer\/status\/1398011888399618049\">replied<\/a>, \u201cChocolate chocolate-chip,\u201d eliciting the unbridled adulation of the press pool. The soft-serve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-3-biggest-softballs-the-media-asked-the-biden-administration-this-week\">softballs<\/a> continued, as The Washington Post printed a hard-hitting expos\u00e9 in May revealing that President Biden likes Coke Zero, orange Gatorade, chocolate chip cookies and, yes, ice cream. (Curiously, the media had a different reaction to President Donald <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-msnbc-cover-president-trumps-diet-coke-habit-emily-zanotti\">Trump\u2019s love of Diet Coke<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/seriously-media-outlets-actually-fact-checked-ashe-schow\">fast food<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cMr. President, what did you order?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Biden: \u201cChocolate chocolate chip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crowd: \u201cOoooooohhh\u201d &#8220;Oh yeahhh.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4FjDIFqEpr\">pic.twitter.com\/4FjDIFqEpr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dcexaminer\/status\/1398011888399618049?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When it came to trying to make Kamala Harris seem charming, the vice president gave the media less to work with, but they tried. They continued their gushing coverage of Harris\u2019 love of wearing Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers. CBS News personality Jane Pauley <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBSSunday\/status\/1350548463981916164\">began<\/a> her interview with the second couple by asking, \u201cWhat\u2019s the story\u201d behind her fashion choice. Her husband, Douglas Emhoff, said her shoe choice proves \u201cshe\u2019s down to Earth.\u201d Yet when Vogue magazine featured a picture of Harris wearing the aforementioned sneakers, the vice president\u2019s office went to war, telling numerous legacy outlets that the diva felt \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kamala-harriss-team-goes-to-war-with-vogue-magazine-over-disrespectful-cover-photo\">blindsided<\/a>\u201d by the overly casual photo choice.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tomorrow on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CBSSunday?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CBSSunday<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Vice President-Elect <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KamalaHarris?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KamalaHarris<\/a> and her husband, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DouglasEmhoff?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DouglasEmhoff<\/a>, sit down with Jane Pauley and open up about their relationship and the story behind those <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Converse?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Converse<\/a> sneakers <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ok50jH6hkn\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ok50jH6hkn<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gtZ27cJ2AM\">pic.twitter.com\/gtZ27cJ2AM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CBS Sunday Morning \ud83c\udf1e (@CBSSunday) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBSSunday\/status\/1350548463981916164?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 16, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Others tried the same task with the first lady, \u201cDr. Jill Biden.\u201d Vogue, which famously &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/jill-biden-vogue-cover-melania-trump-snubbed-magazine-160523\">snubbed<\/a> Melania Trump, ran a cover story extolling Mrs. Biden as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/joy-multiplier-vogue-which-never-featured-melania-has-new-cover-gushing-for-dr-jill\">a first lady for all of us<\/a>.\u201d Others <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Refinery29\/status\/1351964469736435714\">claimed<\/a> \u201cDr. Jill\u201d was \u201cbringing fashion back to the White House\u201d \u2026 after four years of a first lady who was literally a supermodel.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dr. Biden is bringing American fashion back into the White House starting with this subtle sparkly coat \u2728 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/e0R0R0v1O1\">https:\/\/t.co\/e0R0R0v1O1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Refinery29 (@Refinery29) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Refinery29\/status\/1351964469736435714?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 20, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The press even used presidential pets to try to bolster the Bidens\u2019 image. In March, a \u201creporter\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hard-hitting-jen-psaki-asked-about-potential-biden-cat-during-press-briefing\">asked<\/a>, \u201cWe were promised a White House cat. What happened to that?\u201d (White House spokesperson Jen Psaki replied that undoubtedly \u201cthe cat will break the internet, but I don\u2019t have any update on its status.\u201d) Late this year, numerous news outlets dutifully featured stories about the Bidens\u2019 new puppy, Commander, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/tv\/2021\/12\/21\/bidens-welcome-new-puppy-commander-cabrera-nr-vpx.cnn\">CNN<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/12\/21\/1066220864\/commander-biden-puppy-major\">NPR<\/a> (at your expense).<\/p>\n<p>He likes ice cream! She likes Converse chucks! They\u2019re not bad folks, folks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4) Inflation is good, actually<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The legacy media have a curious habit of presenting any Democratic politician\u2019s greatest failing as a strength. When President Clinton lied to the American people (and then perjured himself), the media rolled out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/daily\/2006\/09\/28\/losing_your_temper_is_good_for_you\/\">numerous stories<\/a> about the positive aspects of bearing false witness. (Moses was not consulted.) Now that the U.S. has the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/u-s-tied-for-highest-inflation-of-all-the-worlds-developed-nations-imf\">highest inflation rate<\/a> of all the world\u2019s developed economies \u2014 \u201cthe largest 12-month increase since the period ending June 1982,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-inflation-skyrockets-to-6-8-higher-than-expected-fastest-rate-in-nearly-40-years\">according<\/a> to the Biden administration \u2014 the media have channeled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americaslibrary.gov\/aa\/bryan\/aa_bryan_silver_2.html\">William Jennings Bryan<\/a> to claim inflation is the poor man\u2019s best friend.&nbsp;CNN ran a story earlier this month titled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-story-says-inflation-can-actually-be-good-for-everyday-americans-heres-what-cnn-published-two-weeks-ago\">\u201cWhy inflation can actually be good for everyday Americans and bad for rich people.\u201d<\/a> As this author reported:<\/p>\n<p><em>One day after the Federal Reserve announced that decades-high levels of inflation show no signs of letting up, CNN released a story saying that \u201cinflation can actually be a good thing for working-class Americans,\u201d because inflation \u201cempowers workers.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Days later, New York Times columnist and Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/paulkrugman\/status\/1469727921623416846\">asked<\/a>, \u201cIs there any good reason to believe that inflation hits low-income households especially hard?\u201d New York Times editorial writer Sarah Jeong <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sarahjeong\/status\/1461026428871340038\">wrote<\/a>&nbsp;that \u201call the stuff you see about inflation in the news is driven by rich people flipping their s**t because their parasitic assets aren\u2019t doing as well as they\u2019d like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inflation has been called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/politics\/stephen-moore-economy-inflation-transitory\/2021\/11\/14\/id\/1044626\/\">the cruelest tax<\/a>,\u201d&nbsp;because it falls heaviest on<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Much of what the media engage in isn\u2019t so much journalism as selective misdirection.
