Fox Meteorologist Janice Dean, the most vociferous and trenchant critic of Cuomo for his policies after her husband\u2019s parents died in nursing homes and&nbsp;assisted living facilities, fired on Twitter:<\/p>\n<p><em>The new Manhattan DA is excusing our former corrupt governor of several charges he was facing regarding nursing homes and sexual assault. There are still investigations underway with FBI, DOJ eastern district and AG but there\u2019s no doubt they\u2019re making deals with the devil.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Janice Dean (@JaniceDean) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JaniceDean\/status\/1478319978122293249?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The attorney who represented Cuomo\u2019s executive chamber, Elkan Abramowitz, said the head of the Manhattan district attorney\u2019s elder-care unit contacted him.<\/p>\n<p>Abramowitz said, \u201cI was told that after a thorough investigation\u2014as we have said all along\u2014there was no evidence to suggest that any laws were broken,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/manhattan-da-ends-andrew-cuomo-nursing-home-probe-11641250710\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a> reported, noting the various investigations that had been launched into the nursing home scandal, including the U.S. Department of Justice\u2019s Civil Rights bureau asking for death data from state-run nursing homes in August 2020; a further investigation by another DOJ division that examined private nursing homes, and federal prosecutors based in Brooklyn seeking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/nursing-home-death-data-was-sought-from-cuomo-by-u-s-prosecutors-11613699774?mod=article_inline\">nursing-home death data<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/desantis-cuomo-quarantine-florida-new-york-nursing-homes\">Fox News<\/a>&nbsp;noted in June 2020 that over 6,200 elderly residents might have died from COVID-19 in New York nursing homes according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.ny.gov\/statistics\/diseases\/covid-19\/fatalities_nursing_home_acf.pdf\">state health department statistics<\/a>. Months prior, on March 25, 2020, the New York Department of Health issued an advisory that stated nursing homes had to accept residents returning from hospitals whether or not they had a diagnosis of COVID-19. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/skillednursingnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/03\/DOH_COVID19__NHAdmissionsReadmissions__032520_1585166684475_0.pdf\">advisory<\/a>&nbsp;stated:<\/p>\n<p><em>During this global health emergency, all NHs must comply with the expedited receipt of residents returning from hospitals to NHs. Residents are deemed appropriate for return to a NH upon a determination by the hospital physician or designee that the resident is medically stable for return. &nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Hospital discharge planners&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>must&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><em>confirm to the NH, by telephone, that the resident is medically stable for discharge. Comprehensive discharge instructions must be provided by the hospital prior to the transport of a resident to the NH.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the NH solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19.NHs are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/andrew-cuomo-finally-reverses-order-forcing-nursing-homes-to-take-covid-patients-demands-testing-for-care-workers\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;on May 10, 2020, that a report from New York state authorities&nbsp;showed that \u201cat least 4,813 residents with confirmed or presumed cases of COVID-19 have died at 351 of New York\u2019s 613 nursing homes since March 1, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s administration\u2019s new list,\u201d according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5832141\/new-york-nursing-home-death-toll\/\">Time Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Journal noted that state officials \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/cuomo-advisers-altered-report-on-covid-19-nursing-home-deaths-11614910855?mod=article_inline\">withheld data<\/a>&nbsp;on the full number of Covid-19 deaths among nursing-home residents, and aides to Mr. Cuomo successfully pushed to use a lower tally in a Health Department report on the matter.
