Elise Stefanik (R-NY), held a press call Monday to deliver the party\u2019s messaging on the riot, which Pelosi is currently probing through her Democrat-led select committee.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis partisan sham committee is not focused on answering the most important questions of why the Capitol was left unprepared that day and how we can ensure this never happens again,\u201d Stefanik began.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, the American people deserve to know what the mainstream media refuses to cover: The fact that the only office that is off-limits to this partisan sham investigation is Speaker Pelosi\u2019s office,\u201d Stefanik continued. \u201cThis is a political weapon, and it\u2019s used to cover up for Nancy Pelosi\u2019s failures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>House Administration Committee ranking member Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL), who was also on the call, detailed a letter he wrote to Pelosi on Monday demanding the security officials who ultimately report to her \u2014 the House Sergeant-at-Arms and the House Chief Administrative Officer \u2014 comply with Republican requests for information about how the Capitol was protected on January 6.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>In his letter, Davis accused Pelosi of continuing to&nbsp;\u201cobstruct Republican access to House records relating to the security preparedness of the Capitol complex on January 6th, 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19349506\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1330931896.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19349506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1330931896.jpg\" alt=\"WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 27: U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL) speaks during a news conference in front of the U.S. Capitol on July 27, 2021, in Washington, DC.&nbsp; (Alex Wong\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>He also cited letters he sent early last year to both security officials and Pelosi that he said went unaddressed, but he added that a third security entity, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP), was immediately responsive to his initial letter.<\/p>\n<p>In his new letter, the Illinois Republican highlighted that former USCP Chief Steven Sund and former Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving had \u201cconflicting\u201d accounts about what occurred leading up to and during the January 6 riot, namely whether Irving&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21034615-2-1-2021-letter-from-sund-to-congressional-leaders-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rejected<\/a>&nbsp;Sund\u2019s request for National Guard presence on January 6 because he was worried about the \u201coptics\u201d of it and who in the \u201cchain of command\u201d was directing Irving as the Capitol breach occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Read a full copy of Davis\u2019s letter below:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Judiciary Committee ranking member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), a known oversight hawk who also joined in on Monday\u2019s call, told reporters that the conflicting testimonies between USCP and the Sergeant-at-Arms represent a \u201cfundamental issue\u201d given USCP was fully compliant with Davis\u2019s requests while the Sergeant-at-Arms, who reports to Pelosi, has not been.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan also drew attention to January 6 committee chair Rep. Bennie Thompson\u2019s (D-MS) comment to CNN last July, when Thompson essentially absolved Pelosi of any and all responsibility for the January 6 riot. \u201cWell, if you look at the charge that we have in the resolution, it says the facts and circumstances around January 6. I don\u2019t see the speaker being part and parcel to that,\u201d Thompson had said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Rep. (Kevin Dietsch\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe keep hearing a repeated theme,\u201d Banks said, explaining that \u201cpolicy and personnel changes that occurred in November [2020],\u201d the intelligence gathering and dissemination process, and USCP officers being ill-equipped to manage a riot are consistent topics broached in their interviews.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope in the months to come to release our findings in a more formal manner, and with that make policy recommendations,\u201d Banks said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Several reporters from right-leaning outlets, including Fox News, the Daily Caller, and the&nbsp;<em>Washington Examiner<\/em>, joined the call, as well as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who is a Fox contributor.<\/p>\n<p>Gingrich reminded Republicans that with the midterms approaching and a potential GOP majority on the horizon,&nbsp;\u201cone of the benchmarks\u201d they could set is to \u201cformally instruct all the various officers and people that you want them to preserve everything\u201d in preparation for a \u201cgenuinely nonpartisan effort to review all of this once you\u2019re in charge since this [January 6 committee] is so clearly an absurd and totally partisan approach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One outlet not on the call, D.C. insider&nbsp;<em>Politico<\/em>, complained later on Monday that Stefanik \u201ccherry picked reporters\u201d to participate. \u201cI wasn\u2019t allowed on call nor were others,\u201d <em>Politico<\/em> congressional reporter Olivia Beavers wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EliseStefanik?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@EliseStefanik<\/a>, head of House GOP messaging, cherry picked reporters allowed on this call re. 1\/6 committee\/Cap security \u2014  despite alerting it through official channel. <\/p>\n<p>I wasn\u2019t allowed on call nor were others. Told conservative reporters\/outlets were on it, however. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dviCdpJQKM\">pic.twitter.com\/dviCdpJQKM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Olivia Beavers (@Olivia_Beavers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Olivia_Beavers\/status\/1478130584551571456?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 3, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Breitbart News reached out to Pelosi\u2019s office for comment on Republicans\u2019 claims against her, and her office pointed to Administration Committee chair Rep. Zoe Lofgren\u2019s (D-CA) statement on Monday responding to Davis\u2019s letter, which she described as \u201cpure revisionist fiction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Chief Administrative Officer and House Sergeant at Arms\u202f<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/cha.house.gov\/sites\/democrats.cha.house.gov\/files\/documents\/Preservation%20Request%20Response%20CAO_SAA%202.1.21.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have already notified<\/a>\u202fRanking Member&nbsp;Davis&nbsp;they are complying with preservation requests and will fully cooperate with various law enforcement investigations and bonafide Congressional inquiries,\u201d Lofgren said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s letter is yet another attempt by the minority party to distract and deflect,\u201d Lofgren contended, adding that Democrats will \u201ccontinue to examine\u201d the January 6 riot and \u201cidentify lessons learned, and recommend laws, policies, procedures, rules, or regulations necessary to protect our republic in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Write to Ashley Oliver at <a href=\"mailto:aoliver@breitbart.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aoliver@breitbart.com<\/a>.
