Capitalism without competition isn\u2019t capitalism, it\u2019s exploitation,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>Biden outlined a series of steps to increase competition for smaller meat producers by offering millions of dollars in more federal loan guarantees.<\/p>\n<p>The president offered several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/01\/03\/fact-sheet-the-biden-harris-action-plan-for-a-fairer-more-competitive-and-more-resilient-meat-and-poultry-supply-chain\/\">modest<\/a> proposals to help address the issue but did not detail any significant efforts to break up the existing consolidation of the meatpacking industry.<\/p>\n<p>He tried to emphasize his empathy on the issue by noting he represented the chicken industry when he was the senator of Delaware.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI come from the state of Delaware, everybody thinks the big industry is chemicals,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s chickens. Chickens.
